How do you change the priority setting on AVG? I told my dad to use it but he complains that it slows down his computer too much. =\

CTRL+ALT+DEL and seelct task manager. (In XP Home, the task manager will pop up automatically instead of the other window.) Click the processes tab, highlight the avg process, right click and select set priority->low. Now that you know how to do it, I'll tell you it won't help. AVG only slows the system while it is scanning and the reason it slows the system is the hdd is the bottleneck, and not the process itself. His best bet is to set avg to run once at a specified time at night when he isn't using it. You should also inform him that the free version is running out at the beginning of 2007 (Jan15).

Thank you! It sucks that the free-ness will stop. I guess it can't be helped though.

    Thanks again :D

I don't think they're stopping the free version. The message that I think you're referencing said that the older version of AVG free will be ending then, but you can still download the most up to date free edition, if I'm not mistaken.

Edit: Here's the link to the newest version. http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/

I don't see any place that mentions the free version will be discontinued.

Interesting. I checked it a week or two ago and the 7.5 version wasn't posted yet and there was a message bout support stoping for 7.1 on Jan 15. Good to see they aren't stopping.

Ok, so it's not stopping? Thats great! For me at least, my dad didn't want to deal with AVG so he just uninstalled it. =\
