Konami: "MGS4 is exclusive to PlayStation 3"

Metal Gear 4 doing a 360? "MGS4 is exclusive to PlayStation 3", Konami tells CVG
The internet was aflutter with rumours this weekend, as reports speculated that the massive PlayStation 3 Metal Gear Solid instalment, Guns of the Patriots was stealthing its way over to Xbox 360 - rumours that Konami has since debunked to CVG.
"Konami has no plans to bring Metal Gear Solid 4 to the Xbox 360 at this time," a Konami representative told CVG, reiterating that the Hideo Kojima stealth-em-up was still "exclusive to PlayStation 3."
The original internet report pointed at the MGS instalment branching-out onto multiple platforms due to Konami's concerns that there won't be enough PS3s in gamers' hands by the time it hits shelves.
Though going by the company's official word, it looks like there'll be no Solid Snake action on Microsoft's console for the time being. We wouldn't totally rule out a 360 version in the long term, but you can bet the game will be exclusive to PS3 for at least a year.
We'll be sure to pipe up if Konami flips its stance.

I know it's hard to accept, but Kojima has made it very clear time and time again, MGS4 is remaining a PS3 exclusive. You're just setting yourself up for dissapointment when it doesn't happen. I'm planning on renting a PS3 (or something close) to play MGS4, perhaps you should do something similar. I'm not saying MGS4 coming to 360 is impossible, just very unlikely, and you're putting far too much weight behind Substance's Xbox port.

The rumors of the 360 port don't really come from the MGS2 Substance port to the Xbox. They come from all the rumors of Konami being unhappy with the PS3 numbers and price and wanting to put their big title on a console that is seemingly doing better.
Substance = Win and Awesome. it's worth it. Buy it. Why are you reading this post anymore go buy it now!
Secondly.
I am not surprised at all about MGS4 not coming to the 360. It was stated time and time again that Kojima HATES ports. We are lucky he OKed MG1 and MG2 on the Subsistence disc as he said he was always unhappy with the way the games looked.
So, I've been playing AC!D 2, and it kind of sucks.
It doesn't feel like Metal Gear at all, which may sound likely to some of you, but the first AC!D pulled it off extremely well.
Also, I can't tell if the two games are really connected to eachother. I know that [spoiler:e1633d2772]You fight the Metal Gear recovered from AC!D 1 at some point[/spoiler:e1633d2772]
I'd like to finish it and find out if there is more of a connection than a semi-subtle reference, but it's getting kind of hard/tedious, and so I'm not sure I'll have the will power.
Where did you find it, if I may ask? I tried ripping stuff from the game with PSound but only got the voiceclips.
Glad I could help!
I snagged it from Track 44 on the Portable Ops Original Soundtrack. It's just a bunch of sound effects from the game run together in that one track.. pretty handy.
Hopefully MGS4 will be out on the 360 sooner than later. I have a feeling that it'll be ported before the PS3 is priced at a level that I can afford (which isn't much, hah). I don't even have a 360 at the moment but I'm sure I'll have one within a year or two.
I love me some Metal Gear. I think I need to play through 2 and purchase Subsistence here soon.

Guys, I don't think they would want to say that MGS4 is coming to the 360 even if it is true or untrue.
I believe it would come out on PS3 first as an exclusive, and then it would be ported to 360 later, if this were to really happen.
Sooo, it wouldn't be good for Konami to spill the beans on this, or else they'd suffer from low sales of the PS3 version... eh?
Eh it'd suck if the 360 port lagged and stuff though
It's not like I'll rush out and buy a PS3 for MGS4 anyway. I'll wait on it, and hopefully a 360 version will be announced. If Kojima Prod. wants to earn money on MGS4, they will bring it to the 360.
For those who actually beat both and want to talk about them with me, as well as those who will never own a PSP, or don't care to play a turn-based card-combat Metal Gear:
AC!D 1 slight spoilers (I don't remember most of it):
[spoiler:c45b7ff52a]In the AC!D timeline, Solid Snake retired after MG1. In MGA 1, he's called it to help.....do what he's always called in to do. And he does it, and then at the end there's a huge cliffhanger where shadowy government figures decide to eliminate snake because he's too close to their conspiracy.[/spoiler:c45b7ff52a]
AC!D 2 Spoilers:
[spoiler:c45b7ff52a]AC!D 2 starts out with no connection at all to AC!D 1. Snake is returning to the US, after a three year career as a resistance fighter in South America. However, he has amnesia, and can't remember anything before those three years. Then, about 2/3rds of the way through the game, you fight the Metal Gear from AC!D 1, recovered from the base where the first game took place. When you finally fight MGA2's Metal Gear, the backstory completes itself, and it's revealed that "Snake" is a clone of Solid Snake, who officially didn't survive Lobito Island (the first AC!D). Also, since this Snake is an incomplete clone, he could die or go berserk at any time, leading to a FoxDie/Blade Runner type scenario. [/spoiler:c45b7ff52a]
That's such a fucking cool set up. It's a shame there probably won't be a 3rd AC!D, although I've never been sure how I had the patience and skill to beat the tougher moments the first two had to offer.
Also, the fact that [realspoiler:c45b7ff52a]Solid Snake is dead in the AC!D continuity[/realspoiler:c45b7ff52a] excites me to no end.
Also, I think AC!D 2 is a contender for most bad-ass snake moment, when [spoiler:15d31f4d64]Snake shoots himself out of the Metal Gear's rail gun[/spoiler:15d31f4d64]
I submit myself to the mercy of the Metal Gear Solid Thread. Please, for the love of god, somebody tell me where the fuck the RPG-7 is (Portable Ops).
[spoiler:6843087c2f]Are you fighting the Metal Gear thing in that big room? It's sorta off to the side, but there is one in that room.[/spoiler:6843087c2f]

[spoiler:ae9d4734f8]Are you fighting the Metal Gear thing in that big room? It's sorta off to the side, but there is one in that room.[/spoiler:ae9d4734f8]
Yeah, thats exactly where I am. Thanks, I'll give it a closer look next time around. Here I was sending spies everywhere hoping to get a report on the presence of an RPG7 when it was right in front of my nose.
Also, the fact that [realspoiler:c0714c8171]Solid Snake is dead in the AC!D continuity[/realspoiler:c0714c8171] excites me to no end.
[realspoiler:c0714c8171]I thought it made it pretty damn clear that Solid Snake isn't dead at the end of MGA1.[/realspoiler:c0714c8171]
And can we finish with the '360 port' nonsense? Kojima hates ports and he has a lot of influence within Konami.
What's more, even if it was ported, I'd say there's a very high likelihood that the port would be even worse than the MGS2 port to the Xbox. MGS4's engine is being specifically built around the Cell and RSX, it wouldn't exactly be easy to port it to the 360.
ShimSham: I don't really get the arguments about the PS3 numbers. I mean, in 2006 Sony supposedly sold 1.3 million PS3's in both the US and Japan. Going from memory, isn't that around about the same amount of 360's Microsoft sold in 2005? I don't really think the hardware numbers will be a factor by the time MGS4 comes out (especially with the rumours it may slip into 2008).
I've just finally gotten around to playing Snake Eater, despite having it since release, and I'm stuck on The Sorrow. I know how to beat him, use the revival pill, I know. But every time I reach his body and die to get his spirit camo, I can't use the pill because the circle button to use the pill is also the button to select continue or exit, and it won't let me select it until the "continue/exit" selection comes up, so every time I try to use the pill the game selects continue and starts the whole motherfucking battle again. I've gone through that long-ass boring trudging through the water 3 times in a row now and I'm very close to sticking the controller up Kojima's ass right about now.
Wtf am I doing wrong?
And yes I have the pill selected and it shows on the screen in the corner prior to my hitting circle.
Also, the fact that [realspoiler:96ac5852fa]Solid Snake is dead in the AC!D continuity[/realspoiler:96ac5852fa] excites me to no end.
[realspoiler:96ac5852fa]I thought it made it pretty damn clear that Solid Snake isn't dead at the end of MGA1.[/realspoiler:96ac5852fa]
But did you finish AC!D 2?
[realspoiler:96ac5852fa]Snake is alive at the end of the first game, but the cliffhanger leaves him targeted by some powerful individuals. Rather than picking up again in AC!D 2, it's just mentioned later on in the game that Solid Snake's remains were recovered from the island shortly after the incident and then cloned into the Snake present within AC!D 2. So, wouldn't Solid Snake be dead? Couldn't that illuminati group have caught and disposed of him to have made it look like he died during the island crisis?[/realspoiler:96ac5852fa]
Either way, with Portable Ops out, we'll never know the truth. It's incredibly unlikely that there'll be an AC!D 3.

You have to continue holding L2 while you hit Circle.

[realspoiler:95b45345ac]I'm not sure. I just figured that since MGA1 made it seem like he lived, they just covered it up and pretended that he really did die. They would've had blood samples from him previously, so they could've just used that to clone him but again, I'm not sure. I guess he could be dead but even if he wasn't, he'd be pretty freaking old by the time of MGA2.[/realspoiler:95b45345ac]
Hopefully they revisit the MGA series at some point. I'd say (and hope) they'll make a trilogy out of MGS:PO, leading right up until MG1 and then try something different. Then again, in that contest they had with the Unofficial MG Site, they seemed to express interest in remaking MG1 and MG2, so maybe after finishing the MGS:PO games, they'll do that instead. :?
Hey dudes, if any of you can get me a full sized, full quality scan/jpg of the MGS2: Substance PS2 cover, I'll love you forever.
I just got a disc for $10, which is much better than getting a Case + Manual + Used Game edition on ebay for $40 after shipping. Now I just need to print off a cover.

What are the dimensions of PS2 covers, anyway?
PS2 covers are exactly the same as DVD covers, an A4 piece of paper. Albeit glossy A4 paper.
As for the scan, go to cdcovers.cc. They'll have it (they may also have a lot of pop-ups and ads though).

Right?
Haha, exactly.

By 20 dollars more, do you mean, 25 dollars?
Personally, I'd be willing to pay up to 40 considering the amount of content you're getting in return.
Granted the price of the standard version you're referring to isn't $50.
PS2 Substance is totally worth $30-40, plus isn't not a very easy find anymore.
