So it's my best friends birthday in two days. I was recently hospitalized for injuries sustained in a bad car wreck and this girl made a 6 hour drive one way 3 times in a 2 week period to come visit me and she brought me lots of cool stuff too, so basically this gift needs to be super special.
some information about her:
she is a girl
a bit of a fashionista, spends alot of time doing up some elaborate hair and make up
she has a 9 month old daughter
she is a nurse in training
any thoughts?
don't say gift basket with shampoos and bath stuff, that's too obvious.

I really know nothing about fashion, but there are some nice things there, as well as mother-baby themed items.

    Hope that helps.

My girlfriend is suggesting you get her a coupon for a massage or salon trip AND that you offer to take care of her daughter during that period.

Sounds like good advice to me.

I follow Uncrate.com, which has some really sweet stuff for guys that I'd love if someone gave me.

Outblush is the female equivalent. Look through that, they have a really really big archive of neat things that girls might like, I'm sure you can find something there that she'd like. They usually give a link for where you can buy it online, too.

Depending on how well you know her tastes in things like jewelry http://www.etsy.com has some really nice, unique, homemade stuff.

if she's going to medical school AND has a nine month old daughter, my suggestion (if you have the cash for it) would be to hire a part-time nanny for a couple months. or something along those lines but cheaper such as a laundry/maid service.

This is a great idea. If you don't think/know you can't, jewelry (diamond earrings or a diamond necklace) is always a good bet, especially if she's into fashion. If you know you don't have good taste in jewelry, or aren't sure you do, get a female friend/family member to help you pick it out.

Anything to give her a day off. She deserves it.
