to break bad - when someone has taken a turn off the path of the straight and narrow, when they've gone wrong
This is the story of Walter White, an overqualified high school chemistry teacher and struggling family man turned meth cooking drug dealer.
Why, you ask?
Because Walt has cancer, lung cancer, and only a short while left to live before he leaves his family with nothing.
More details about the show can be found at Wikipedia, here, or at the show's website, here.
This is the best show on television right now (it just started it's second season last Sunday), you may have heard that Bryan Cranston won an Emmy for the first season last year.
Unfortunately the first season doesn't appear to be online anywhere for free but the DVD is relatively cheap since there were only seven episodes (cut short by the WGA strike).
mod edit: Standard TV show spoiler rules apply in here: Spoiler tags are required for current-season goings-on, anything from past seasons is fair game.
I like Bryan more than Mary Louise Parker. Their characters I mean.
Breaking Bad is a such a great show, but I do like Weeds quite a bit too. They are both good to me.
I have been looking forward to this for quite awhile.
All the episodes are intense, fuck, you know he cant die and yet you're all "HES GOING TO FUCKING DIE!"
And I think that Walt left his
Id there so hes gonna have to sort something out for that. I also hope he sorts out his cash before its found otherwise all his work will likely be for naught
Yeah, last night's episode was pretty intense: ding!
Walt didn't leave his ID behind, Tuco gave them all their stuff back. My guess is Tuco's tio will recognize Walt from the "missing" posters put up all over town.
I started watching this show after someone on SE++ mentioned it. Watched the first season marathon style. SO good. The "bathtub" scene was probably one of the most disgusting things ever put on television.
def a GREAT fucking show. i happened upon it the 3rd episode of season 1 and have watching it ever since. i missed this past sunday's epsisode, but thank god for DVR!
and yeah, i thought it was KIND OF like Weeds, but with a much darker tone/sense of humor. and while i like both, i think i'd take Breaking Bad if forced to choose one. who knew AMC good make a DAMN good show?

The Neverhood is what TRULY started my gaming addiction, therefore respect is due.
breaking bad was hands-down the best new original show to come out last year. breaking bad was probably the most tragic victim of the writer's strike. the "first season" only shot seven of the planned nine episode run, but bryan cranston stil won an emmy outstanding lead actor in a drama.
not only is the subject matter dark but the filming itself is often dark and muted, even when the scene is taking place outdoors. the lighting & camera filters almost seem at times to be tied into walter's mood.
I'd say BB is very similar to weeds in many ways (which imo is a good thing), it's still got plenty of comedic moments but they're more subdued than in Weeds. It also doesn't glorify the drug, i.e. I don't think we'll see Snoop Dog rapping about how great Walt's latest batch is. Also Cranston is really great has he won any awards for acting from season 1? (nevermind two posts above confirm he did, he deserved it)
I wouldn't really consider Weeds and Breaking Bad to share anything in common aside from their stories revolving around an illegal drug (and the intensity of each show could be a statement about how dangerous the respective drugs are.)
Been on board since the first episode, this is one of my favorite shows right now. Favorite quote so far : season 1 Walt's brother-on-law "bitch got an ass like an onion, makes you want to cry"

right! like... "hello, sir. hey, i know you don't know me or anything, but uh.. would you be interested in a felony quantity of mehtamphetiamine?"
Figured this is the best place to ask this while I'm at work: are full eps online? I was out of town last sunday and my DirecTV was having some sort of seizure or hissy-fit last night, so I'm two episodes behind (and, thusly, I am a sad panda). Desperate to catch up. amc.com, hulu, or am I s.o.l.?

Yea he is definitely going after them with teh cousins. I was so confused at first, and i love that whole scene in the interigation room with him and the kid. God damn hilarious and so well done. This show is amazing for anyone who hasn't seen it. It's constantly hard hitting and always going, no slowing down, just from one OH SHIT to the next.
I was sure the left thier ID on the table when he made them dump out thier pockets and it all got left there but i guess not.
The next season is definitely gonna be his brother inlaw knowing but not being able to prove it and tryin.
He definitely seems down to overlook what loved ones do, like his klepto wife. What was it he said about the cuban cigars? Something to do with it's being wrong making it so good iirc.
For (I dont know why, i really cant remember the main guys name right now) the main character, he couldn't just look the other way but he wouldnt turn him in. Hed threaten to though and more than likely hed give it up OR explain why hes doing it and beg for mercy in these last moments, so he MIGHT overlook it for his families sake.
But hunting him and trying to get hard evidence on him? Not the type. The writers are more concerned with having him face the kind of people who are out of his depth and can and will kill him.
Some sort of warning was more what I was thinking than just letting Walt cook. Like taking the nephew to see crank whores, it wasn't just "off to juvie with you", and his wife and the therapy.
I didnt think this episode was that great, I find it hard to feel sorry for the druggie. Did they explain where the 600$ went? Or was it just the fact that it wasnt enough for getting the Winnebago back?
I am confused as well how he kept refering to half of walters money as his. Was the money that was taken all his previously before they cooked, and walter is holding both of their money? That didnt make sense to me. If the dude lost his money, fuck him. Its in Walters best interests to keep him afloat as a loan, but otherwise hes screwed. If he needs more then 600 it would of benefited walt to bring him more.
My brother did that when learning to drive, only it was a fire hydrant, and he was able to hit the break and stop 2 feet from the thing.

I'd have to watch the last few eps again for the exact details, but Jessie wanted half the money because he lost his in their plot to keep from getting caught which was Walter's idea.
Walter assumed that he spent the $600 on drugs but we didn't find out what he actually spent it on

edit: Kinda like a gender reversal of "Weeds"

Although I'll readily say I've watched neither and I say that just from my general impressions of the two.

yeah, i've seen comercials, what is it about? how's it compare to breaking bad? i mean in quality, i know enough that they're not similar in content

Mad Men is about Madison Avenue advertising executives in 1960. It is awesome.

They're all good shows, though.

Excited!
FX must be kicking themselves since they passed on it.

I'm really enjoying this series. I hope it never slows down.

Unless the cops got it from his house but Im pretty sure they hadnt breached it at that point.
Looks like Skyler has found his money/gun.
