Help me pay less for my broadband (UK)

Hi guys, I'm currently paying a ridiculous amount for my broadband. Does anyone have any good suggestions? I live in a house that uses more bandwidth than google, so I need something with a descent download limit (we've gone over 50gb, although I'd be happy with a 30gb cap). I don't care about TV, but we still need a landline.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Well, what are you paying at the moment? That generally helps.

I'm paying a ridiculous amount for uncapped BT broadband. They throttle Bittorrent traffic until after 11pm and streaming any HD content is impossible without a few hours of buffering beforehand. I've only got another 8 or so months before the 18 month contract is up. The only reason I ever went with them was because they could get it installed within the week of me moving in.

Friends have a lot of good experience with BeThere and O2 (being the only ADSL2 suppliers in the country at the moment) so if you're near an exchange you'll get good line speeds. I can't really comment on reliability though as we've got a bethere line at work and we have no end of problems with it flaking out.

Sorry, I should've put that in. I'm paying £42.53/month for 50gb, plus phone line rental of another £10 or so. It's fast, and reliable, but it seems like I'm paying four times what most of my friends are.

    Ouch!

BeUnlimited or O2 are both excellent (they use the same network), though you do need to be fairly near an adsl2 enabled exchange to get the full 20meg connection.

I've been with O2 for the last year - no complaints - great connection speeds, outages are rare, and no issues wi download limits.

Oh yeah, they both cost in the region of £10-£20 p/month (depending on package you go for or whether you're an existing O2 customer) + line rental.

Have a look at www.ispreview.co.uk and www.thinkbroadband.com for info on other isps as well.
