ZooPAX and DC meetup, April 24-26

So as some of you may know, I've never been to a zoo. Like, ever. When it was brought to my attention that this is somewhat of a big deal, I decided that I would make my first trip a memorable one. I've hence decided to visit the Smithsonian National Zoological Park, among other things in the area since my last trip to DC was spent doing other things, namely seeing our President being sworn into office. And since there are a number of forumers living in the local and slightly less local area, meeting up with some of you dudes seems like a good way to kill two birds with one stone.

April 24-26 are the dates, the weekend after Easter, I believe.

Nope, and from what I hear it's fairly lackluster, so I've abstained simply so I could visit one of the better ones.

Last time I was at a zoo I was Tiergarten Schönbrunn in Vienna. Before that it was Belfast where I got to see baby chimps. They were adorable.

    I know.

I'm saying that I haven't been able to go to these because I haven't been able to get the time to travel anywhere. So instead you are bringing the fun to me.

Here's the thing about this particular plan:

It's on the weekend of my wedding.

Last time I went to the DC zoo I saw a giant panda chew the fuck out of some bamboo.

He was all OM NOMNOMNOMNOMNOM until he had a cheekful of leaves then he gulped it all down and ate the rest of the tree.

it's free so it's kind of lame and everything closes early and the animals are okay but sometimes they're just not even there

    No.

If we're in the DC area there is an ice cream place that will blow coldstone's vastly over-hyped ice cream away each and every time.

When we get closer to a full head count let me know. If we're looking at hotels I may be able to make a few calls in Alexandria.
