Buying a plane ticket for someone in another country?

So yeah, my friend lives in Canada, I live in the US. I want to fly her down here for a vacation. It seems like most travel sites like Orbitz or Travelocity will either tell you there are no flights available, or will show you flights but put them in Canadian currency, which makes me think you can't buy an international flight for someone else...

I tried Googling this up but I wasn't able to find something, even if it seems to be a pretty simple question.

I dont see why you wouldnt be able to purchase a ticket, directly from an airline or something like cheaptickets or orbitz or whatever. Im not understanding why something would tell you there are no flights available; there many flights going from Canada to USA, every day.

And if you buy the ticket from a canadian airline, it will be in canadian funds, obviously. Buying it with a credit card will bill your card in the converted american funds.

Where does she live? Where do you live? Id recommend Westjet if available, its extremely cheap.

Yeah if you buy with a creditcard your friend would be able to pick up the physical ticket at the appropriate counter at the airport. She'll need some ID of course, but it's no big hassle.

As a Yank engaged to a Canuck, I can verify with 100% certainty that reserving plane tickets for them will be no problem, and that making purchases in Canadian dollars with a US credit card is both easy and awesome (the combination of near-parity prices and a weak Canadian dollar means I pretty much get 25% off anything I buy in Canada right now).

    Enjoy your booty call.
