Place to buy button down shirts online? (Or other shirt recommendations)

I'm looking for a place to get button down shirts online.

Obviously, the smart thing to do would be to google for "button down shirts" or something, but when I do that, it seems like I end up with either $200 designer shirts or super discount $6, I am looking for something in the middle.

Basically I have always dressed like a punk kid (band t-shirt, jeans, sneakers) and I have just realized that almost all of my t-shirts are from a long time ago (years), so I need to get some new shirts. Since I hardly ever see anything I like in person or in stores, I figured I'd go online.

So yeah, I'm an 18 year old guy. I can't spend $100 dollars on a shirt. Direct me.

Also, if anyone knows any good sites that have a lot of band t-shirts I would like to hear about it. Googling for "punk shirts" seems to lead me to sites directed more at the hot-topic crowd.

Are these for dress use or casual attire? I'm gathering that they're for casual attire.

For casual attire, the quality won't be "as good." It will be pre-washed and softer and you don't want to bank on doubling on using them for casual dress and dressy occasions, as the collars are normally too flat, the shirt isn't long enough, etc.

What styles are you looking for? Plaid, stripes, plain, etc. You can find them at www.ae.com (American eagle) for good prices and good looks, www.gap.com (although Gap is more expensive and not really any better in quality in my opinion), www.oldnavy.com, tjmax (sp? tjmaxx?), etc.

With the economy's current state there are some really sweet deals on clothing. Definitely take a look at the clothes in-store. Wear the bottom (i.e. jeans or shorts) you'd plan on wearing with them and try them on there. Not only are deals better in stores from time to time, you can decide if you look good in them or not. Things like looking for a button on the back of the collar (yes, they exist and yes, they look ridiculous when buttoned so you should avoid them) can't normally be identified from an online listing.

Look for coupons and sales. Last week I saved 30-40% on a pair of jeans from Gap by using one of their online coupons; the coupon was applicable to everything in the store.

Also, when on the AE site (or any other site) take a look at "Shirts" to find what you're looking for. Polo shirts are under polos, plain tees are under tees, and button-up/down/Oxford shirts are listed as "Shirts" in some cases.

Additionally, if you want to save lots of money, go to a department store (i.e. Marshall's). You can't shop online but you can save TONS of money at them.

Macys has a good range of mens button down shirts, anywhere from $20 to $60 on average. Something basic, look for Alfani, its their store brand so its a little cheaper.

Imo, it's best to buy in person and try them on before you buy. Some brands are too baggy for certain people, some only go by s/m/l so even if a m covers size 15 necks it might not fit properly.

I'd go to a Macy's and get someone to measure you, then try a few shirts, and see what brands you like. The good thing about buying online from any of the stores listed is you can return/exchange in-store.

Here's some that might a little dressier than you were looking for, but only $25.

Woah woah woah. You go to school in NYC. What the hell are you doing? Go to Century 21. It's a bit of a rat race, but the deals are hard to beat.

Also, college is probably the time to start growing out of wearing band t-shirts.

If you're in New York, you could try one of those dept chains, like a Kohl's.

Century 21 is a department chain. They carry a lot of great designer brands at very affordable prices. The only problem is the store is kind of a mess so you have to be willing to root around a bit.

Where do you live? If there's a Ross near you, you can't beat their prices. I get Docker's button-downs from there all the time for <$10.

    Look for used clothing stores.

There's a place around here called Plato's Closet. Every month-ish I go there.

They have Hollister, AE, Aeropostale, what-the-fuck-ever brands of good button-downs for $5-10.

There ain't nothing wrong with buying a button down for $5.00 if it looks good and works.

Anyone who's obsessed with image in college for more than professional/personal management areas is probably a douchebag. You're in a world with people who will gladly wear a 5-year-old hoodie and pajama pants to class. I've done it many a time. College is probably the time to start being aware of proper fashion, but attaching any retarded over-arching stigmas to any specific clothing is dumb.

Just be aware that if you're wearing a Panic! At the Disco shirt you're probably not going to get any play at the bar, and if you're wearing a My Chemical Romance shirt any students you may have while TAing will probably not respect you.

If $50-$70 is in your budget you might want to consider getting some custom made shirts. A shirt that actually fits you is way better then off the rack stuff. If you can't find a tailor near you there are tonnes of websites out there. Just make sure you get your measurements right.
