if theyre going that hard for throws you should be jamming tech throws constantly once they get in on you. of course when you start doing that is when a good player will fuck you in the ass because youre sitting there trying to tech out of throws while theyre comboing you into whatever silly shit they want.
I have problems consistently teching out of throws, even if I am jamming on LP+LK in anticipation of being thrown. It seems to be really random to me and works every once in awhile. I guess this is something I can work out in training. I wonder if you can record the CPU to throw you.

If you're still recovering from a move you can't tech, just FYI.

you have to EX tech to cancel out of the recovery frames, its tricky but if you time it right...

note: i just made that up.

But oddly enough that almost sounded possible. EX canceling out of block recovery FTW. :)

Thanks for the tips guys, I guess I will try to do c.LP+LK for teching, at worse I end up playing footsies...or you know, just try jumping (watch me get air thrown lots now). :P

Well if you FADC out of a move you can dodge or tech out a throw. It helps when you know you fucked up after you dash with boxer or something, because you can FADC out of the hit and go in for your own throw or tech theirs.

If you know the throw is coming, jump straight up and come down with an attack. At worst, you get a block string, at best, you get a nice combo.

Wow I suck sooo much at this game. For some reason every time I try to do an ultra combo like the metsu hadouken where it's two small quarter-circles forwards I end up just doing the shoryuken motion move for that character. Every. single. time. Also I'm just losing over and over to Zangief on easy. He knocks me on the ground, and then AS SOON as I get up he does some grab on me that I can't seem to avoid. Awesome.

Go into training mode and enable "input display" to see what's going wrong. You're either not hitting forward all the way on your QCFs or hitting PPP early.

Oh yah, no way I'm using C. Viper as my main character. I was just unlocking Cammy (I just got the game). Unlocking Akuma is a bitch. Mostly because I really suck. I ALWAYS die on Seth. Even on Easiest ;_;.

Edit: yay, i figured out that if i use the dpad i can just tap down forward down forward all punches really quick and it'll work like a charm.

I'm trying to remember because it's been a while since I did it, but isn't the "no continues" requirement for unlocking Akuma and Gouken just up until Seth? So you can die on Seth, continue and still get them.

The only person I have difficulty beating Seth with is Dhalsim. I just can't play that guy.

I finally killed the blue bastard by launching my ultra from across the screen in pure desperation, my health was at 1 and his was at 10% and the AI stupidly long-punched at the fireball as it crawled towards him.

If you have a second controller you can press start on it to initiate a challenge before Seth beats you. It's not a continue, if you're "saved" before death. :P

Hmmm. Strange. I could have sworn I did that (made it to Seth, he beat me, then I beat him) when I was going for Akuma and I didn't get to challenge him. Re-did it and beat him without him beating me and then was challenged by Akuma.

Oh well, I could be wrong.

If you can avoid being beaten, you're golden, at the very least.

So has anyone actually managed to complete Guile's combo trial

Specifically, the one that goes jump-in hard kick -> crouching medium punch -> flash kick -> double fucking flash

I've tried and failed to do this thousands of times and I seriously want to punch whoever approved this weapons-grade bullshit in their fucking face

Once you knock the CPU down with Zangief you can infinitely repeat the spinning piledriver -> green hand loop for a guaranteed win.

SPD, as soon as you land do a jab green hand followed by a jab SPD (or heavier version if you're close enough). The SPD will be timed to grab the CPU immediately as he's standing up, and then just repeat until you win. That's basically how I finished up the hard survival challenges.

Similarly, in the challenges that give you unlimited ultra or super gauge you can pick Akuma and just do the raging demon over and over as the CPU tries to stand up. Hits 'em every time.

Weird, when I still used the 360 controller for HD Remix I found I could pull off moves more accurately but less fast with the stick. I preferred the analog stick since it would at least do what I was telling it to do.

For infinite Super Guage I prefer Gen's Mantis super, as it combos into itself and is damn satisfying.
