This looks fun. It comes out soon, right? Have there been any pre-reviews? I want it to be good. Please tell me it is good.
Nintendo Power gave it an 8.5. Since I'm already sold on the game, I didn't actually read the text of the article, but 8.5 sounds good to me. They gave Excitebots an 8.0, and it kicks ass.
I haven't read Nintendo Power in a long time. How trustworthy are they be to review games they're putting out?
I don't think Nintendo Power is directly owned by Nintendo anymore.
It isn't.

We've got five motherfuckin' circuits to go through, so given the usual 3-4 fights a circuit either we get a few rematches or there're several additional secret boxers.
* Tight red boxers and gloves? Conical bald head? Oh you fucking bet it's Popinski. Unless Bald Bull decided to put a bit more emphesis on the Bull part.
* Looks like Aran Ryan's in all right. Fuck.

Yeah. But even before that, they loosened up their reviewing and started giving Nintendo-published stuff bad scores if warranted, so they're reasonably trustworthy now.
Has anyone heard anymore about multi? Kotaku had pictures of palette swapped Lil Macs fighting each other. Can you be other characters? How much control do you have over your boxer?

I'm pretty sure the controls are the same as the single-player, and I don't think you can be any other character.
There was a clip of someone filling up a special meter to turn into "Giga-Mac." The Giga-Mac player's half of the screen went away and Giga-Mac just started wailing on the other guy.

They played a couple rounds of multiplayer on the 1up game night last night. It looks like Little Mac has one or two new moves in multiplayer (for example, there was some sort of overhead swing). Giga Mac had several special punches, but they all seemed to be telegraphed (like a CPU opponent's attacks). It looks like there's some sort of taunt you can perform to extend the duration of your Giga Mac transformation, but of course it leaves you open to attack.
I'm going to get this and most likely love it, anyways. I mean, I'd probably call MTPO my favorite game of all time. For such a simple and short game, I've put a sick amount of hours into it and still play it often today.
Less than a week! *Swoon*

Huh.
Weird that even with release so close there still isn't anything on the balance board support. Either it sucks or it doesn't exist or there is something else going on.

NDA'd. Supposedly Nintendo tries to present it as a "surprise".
Just saw a Punch-Out ad on IGN pop up that said "12 classic boxers plus new ones."
So it sounds like there's more than 13 boxers.
Or that there's 12 boxers, some classic and some new ones.
You know how they'll manipulate the language to make ANYthing sound cooler.
No, it specifically and exactly said "12 classic boxers, plus new ones." Not much wiggle room there.
They also said it in the promotional video. As observed, this might just be Disco Kid and Giga Mac, but judging from what Sorenson spoilered (and I cannot corroborate his evidence, I missed the first part of the show), we can possibly hope for more than just that. It's kind of up in the air at this point, so hope for the best and look forward to the game.
Fuck! I'm probably not going to be able to play this when it comes out because I'm having to send my Wii in for repairs. For the fifth time. Nintendo has really tested my loyalty this past year.
Poster at NeoGaf user has confirmed the roster to be correct, although he hasn't played throught Title Defend yet. Interestingly enough, World Circuit champion is...
...Mr. Sandman, not Super-Macho Man.
According to poster, Soda Popinski brings the soda pop bottle to the match, and drinks from it before doing his special attack. If you punch it out from his hands, he gets really, really pissed.

Look what the prize is that Nintendo is giving away to the winners of their Punch Out tournament at the Nintendo World Store in NY. I want it so badly.

Sandman comes first. I still can't beat him either.
I've never played the original punch-out.
I might buy it tonight on VC
It is on VC, right?

As long as you're not playing on a HDTV, absolutely go for it.

Fixed that for ya. It works just fine on my Regza.
Unfortunately not. I searched for it, but couldn't find any copies.

Is that a CRT HDTV?
Because if it's a flat panel, I've yet to play Punch-Out on a flat panel that didn't have ANY lag.

No, its a high-end Toshiba LCD HD-TV. It has 7 ms lag on upscaling, meaning that it is un-noticeable outside Beatmania.

I'm just being conservative... this is Nintendo, after all. (No, I don't know what that means, either.)
Then again, it looks like you have to win it to wear it, so bollocks, anyway.

Great Tiger is awesome, multiplayer looks really fun. The game has so much character.
