I know nothing about the technical speak involved in audio cables and plugs, i don't know what they're called, i need someone to tell me the names of what I'm about to describe.
So i know of two types, and only need to know about them, there's the green coloured 2 band plug i use for computers & mp3 players, and there's the red and white cables that are usually paired with the composite video cables you get on gaming consoles.
I want to know what those are called, and i want to know if the signals are compatible and hence if i can i get an adaptor for these two types of plugs.
Spoilered unnecessary story:
I bought a male/male HDMI-DVI cable for my 360 and my monitor, unfortunately my screen has no speakers built into it, so basically i can play in extremely high resolutions, but without any sound.
So i was wondering whether i could take the red & white cables and run them from my xbox and just connect it to my PC speakers.
Or if i need to buy some speakers that directly take the red & white cables.
EDIT: You may also need a female/female RCA adapter, basically to let you plug two males ends into each other. I don't know about yours, but my local Wal-Mart has those too. Again, somewhere in the $5-$10 range for like four.
You can just get a female RCA-mini cable, without the extra adapter.
Just plug it on the end of the RCA cables that came with your xbox.

Regardless of what combination of male/female cords/adapters you get, it should cost you no more than two or three bucks to get things working.
