I don't understand why people play combat tree. He has no skills to aid him in killing people except for his ult, which is stupid to blow on single targets. not to mention he's a terrible farmer, which makes getting items on him a rather slow process.
It's because his stat growth is more than enough to maintain his status as a support hero without buying a bunch more items to buff his support-ness, so why not beef him up for combat, too? That way, instead of having him sit at the side of a team battle, he can actually be in the fight causing shit-tons of damage.

Pfft, he's so easy to last hit because his base damage is insane and living armor works wonders early game. Pretty good attack animation too.
It's kind of a shame that dagon birds are no longer possible. Nothing really says "you suck at dota and should feel bad about it" like a dagon bird fly-by.

I believe the changed it so that bird can't use dagon anymore, that's why it's no longer possible. Just like it's no longer possible to use bird to place wards
But, if you really want to blow money on a cool bird, put bkb on your bird. Nothing like a giant ass bird flying around taunting your enemies.

You just need an energy booster on bird and it gets mana.

Dude. Tree is an awesome farmer. High damage = easy last hits = good farmers. But you need to be ok at timing last hits.
Tree farms fine with a few bracers. I spend almost 90% of my time as tree healing towers/placing eyes/helping teammates. I hardly have the time to go rambo.

This is a perfect point that I'm sad to see a lot of newer players miss out on.
Getting a couple of bracers for strength heroes, bands for agility heroes, or talismans for intelligence heroes adds damage along with the stats that increases the ease of farming. I think it makes last hitting significantly easier when you have 2 of these on a hero.
Think about being in a lane and you have 2 bracers, while the enemy has none. You try to last hit a creep while he tries to deny it. Because of your +12 damage you have a much greater chance of killing the creep when it hits a sliver of health.
Really these should never be skipped in early game, though depending on how well you are doing you can alter the timing of acquiring them. High level games almost always use them.
For the price, you definetly can't go wrong. A str hero with 2-4 bracers essentially gains most of the health they'll need for a while to come, throw some phase boots or str treads on there for survivability and you're off to a good head start on someone who, say, doesn't do this.
Yes. Bracers/Wraith Bands/Nulls are the greatest items - don't be afraid to get a couple bracers on an int hero, as well. 2 of them will still give you +6 int, and they increase your survivability by SO MUCH.
So, I go Dagon Lion and spend half the game roaming their jungle. Catch this CK in the same exact spot 3 times in a row. He accuses me of hacking, saves the game, and leaves. Good times.
After seeing Demigod but being broke buying a TE stick I reinstalled WC3 and played some DotA after not playing for a couple years or so.
First game went alright, played the slithereen, didn't know wtf to buy, ended up getting a butterfly for more stuns and because they had a lot of melee heroes. Was told I should get a lifesteal item but whatever. Ended up losing a fairly close game.
Second game I get the enchantress and do well to start but then the two guys in my lane drop after being killed and their remaining three heroes are Clinkz, sand king, and the nerubian assassin guy. The rest of the game consisted of me getting killed instantly the second I poked my head out before everyone ended up quitting.
I have no idea wtf I'm supposed to do if I get a low hp hero like enchantress.

Play conservatively and use the heal liberally and get some combination of bracer's and nulls. Once you get the "slow on hit" thingy enchantress is actually a very effective tank if you're fighting heroes that depend on attacks instead of nukes.
Though if I was in your shoes 2 leavers on one team means I'm out. Plus I don't do the whole -switch thing since i'm no fan of dragging out an inevitable outcome, which is what happens 90% of the time
Enchantress is the new imba dps with staying power. Low HP, but you can gank easily and have that heal to back you up -- plus she's fast as hell and can slow. I'd say for her most of the time your best defence option is to just kill everyone before they kill you. Once you hit level 6 you can start doing insane damage and you can get disables (guinsoo's or orchid) and rape even harder.
If you're not doing so hot, though, you can just go for a couple bracers to help your hp and just hang back with your heal and loleasy damage arrows. Stick to team fights and you shouldn't have a problem.
Since I'm sick as balls and can't really do anything this weekend there'll be a lot of dota going on, if anyone wants to play.
I'd say she's the old imba int hero. You could get MKB and easily end the game with an e-peen engorging score. of course a recent update swapped her ult which was incredible, with the distance spear thingy (also incredible). She's one of few heroes who were "nerfed" but said nerf really makes no difference in her deadliness, though I suppose it's a bit harder to get first blood now
I dunno where I'm going with this post but those skills combined with a really good heal with a large AOE and a slow / creep dominate, she's basically hax. Bonus that any of the stealth heroes (clinkz, SA, BH) are shit cause they need to hit fast to kill her, which is simply impossible
You really should jungle enchantress nowadays. She contributes far more to lane by coming there every once in a while with 2-3 dominated creeps and getting a kill for the team than she does by actively laning. She makes money retardedly fast while jungling, so that's a plus too.
Well, it's good for when you're certain that the attack you just made is going to be last one hitting, or if you have significantly more movespeed than the target or if you're just harassing.

I just realized my experience with -switch is quite the contrary. More often than not when we -switched the receiving team rallies to victory. It's easy to see why this wouldn't be the average though.
Yeah.. It's pretty annoying when it's 3v5 and everyone decides to switch and agrees to it on both teams, except one asshole who thinks it'll drag the game out. Too bad, buddy. 1 against everybody. Just play along and don't be a jerk.
Well there's a little trouble with switch in that there's really one of two things that can happen:
1.) a player who is doing poorly, or who's hero has become obsolete switches (eg. Chen switching at lategame isn't really going to balance anything). That just creates a nominally balanced situation but offers no real help for the losing team.
2.) the losing team receives an actually helpful hero, and since they've also got the gold and items from two leavers just dominate the previously winning team.
In my experience, it's very rare for -switch to actually lead to balanced play, so I'm not really a fan of the command. Pubs have a somewhat irrational (though understandable) leaver hate anyway, often times you see people bitching about quitters in a 40+ minute game that has been all but decided.
So, I switched back to Warkeys after having one too many issues with Dotakeys. Maybe when the Dotakeys developer is done with his schoolwork and can finally put out the next update I'll check again. Plus, Dotakeys doesn't work well with Garena and has a tendency to bug out on me. The only thing I'm missing right now is the autocast shortcut, but I need to work on my orbwalking anyway.

They're bitching rightfully so. It's not common, but games DO get turn 40 minutes in. Games turn 60 minutes in. Hell, I've been in a 2 hour game that was so dead even that.. well.. it lasted 2 hours. You can't just quit because you think "gg". What's that? They suddenly rolled 3 of your team members and took a tower? It's not gg. They took out your fucking rax? It's still not GG! Anything can happen! They can make a devastating mistake and you can push their rax out of the blue. I've seen games with supercreeps on both sides.
Unless the team forefits or leaves to make it even, leavers are the worst thing in the online community.. maybe next to feeders/griefers.

I've seen my share of long games and turnarounds at the last minute, and I can say they only happen in very specific circumstances that are, once you've played enough, fairly easy to recognize. Yes, there are games that are still undecided at 60-70 mins (thankfully they're no longer as common as they used to be), but so too are there games that have been decided by the 35-40 minute mark but still go on for good ten minutes or more because the defending team can succesfully slow the final push (but do not have the ability to do a counter push) or because the winning team is not yet confident in their already massive advantage and feel the need to consolidate it even further.

Sometimes having fun outweighs the will to win. Like Dagon + Lothars on TB.

I agree, when the update came out I was pretty shocked that they switched the skills
Also, you can actually increase your impetus damage by running backwards. More trivia than practical most of the time, but it's still neat.
