You can now expect that Microsoft will not reduce the elite price in the UK now. what a joke worse still is the removal of the key component in the arcade machine that game it's name, the 6 arcade games.
Yeah it's a joke. Either this is in prep for some positive change to the package being announced at gamescom or it is the usual shafting the uk receives.
Like so many comments I've read about this on varying sites it's a case of prices stayign high during a strong pound and then being raised when the pound is weak. Some shitty argument is handed out every time but it's always contradictory.
I already have a 360 so it shouldn't really bother me but it's just part of the slide towards £60-£70 console games.
We may not actually see the price hike though. When Nintendo hiked the price of the Wii by £20 to 200 a few months back the retailers swallowed the loss and it never reached consumers. The same may happen here.

Its £30 and from wha ti understand retailers make something like £5 on consoles sold. With the Wii most retailers seem to have gone that route because if one raised it inevitably someone wouldnt and you'd end up with massive price differences and lose custom. Noone gives a shit about Arcades.
On the flipside, those trading their arcades in MAY get increased trade or cash prices.

Well honestly it wont really hit the bigger retail chains, the GAME and HMV because they will use the consoles as loss leaders with package deals, and even with the £60+ games they will offer reductions for pre-orders as MW 2 has shown. What this will effect is the independent retailers, basically fucking them over.
Can someone give me some information on Ebay? Seeing Kaseius play Way of the Samurau lately made me want to replay it and I can see it on ebay quite cheap though its got time left yet but every listing has free P&P despite the games being dirt cheap, is this something Ebay helps cover now because one of the descriptions at least makes it sound like they should be getting paid for P&P even though its listed as free.

Yeah, you can't list a P&P price now when selling computer games. Sucks for sellers, great for buyers.

Why is it only for games?
So if something is listed as .99p for a ps3 game and it says FREE P&P they can't add on any hidden charges?
It's for DVDs too, and similar-sized things, they did it a few months ago since a large amount of sellers were over-charging on P&P.
It always helps to read the item description though, since a few items are listed as 'Free Postage!' but the seller will have written 'Postage is £2!' to try and sidestep it. This isn't very common though.
Weird, wonder why its going so cheap then, sure its got time to go but it must nearly cost money at some of these prices just to get rid of the thing.
Bids on eBay items always rocket up at the last second. Wait until it sells to see what it was worth.
Indeed, although not entirely helpful if you're bidding on something slightly uncommon! If you choose ones that end at strange times you can often still walk out with a deal anyway. Or of course you could try the age-old "£7.01" when there's 10 seconds left on the clock. Or of course you could just bid what you're prepared to pay for it, win it if you're the highest bidder, lose if someone's prepared to pay more than you. Y'know, like an auction.
Also, FUEL for £8. I'm passing on this one, but only because I've been recently subscribing to the theory of "it's about £5, therefore it costs nothing" waaay too much.
I've ordered it, though I've read on Savygamer that Littlewoods/Additions (I think they're the same company?) can be a little shady in charging you more than shown at checkout. £7 though, worth the risk! :P
Dayum, I didn't know about the Littlewoods dodgyness. Just been having a google about them. Wish I'd known about it before telling my mates about the deal (who have jumped on it too). Hopefully all will be well.

I too have a tired old story of Littlewoods' slap-dashery which I'm sure you don't want to hear. Suffice it to say I still only have the one story because I have refused to do further business with them.

Yeah same here. Not a very trust worthy company to say the least.
Do all your Littlewoods stories involve using a discount code that you weren't entitled to use?
Because pretty much everyone else's do. I used a code I was actually sent, instead of one that some scamp on the internet said it was OK to use, and I got a great deal with no problems.
No, I have horror storied on codes that I was entitled to use.
Either way, it is illegal to charge people more than the checkout process told them you would be charging. It is perfectly legal to cancel an order for whatever reason, but what littlewoods do when they decide that they don't want to honor the coupon that their web site told you they would, is just charge you full price.

It is illegal, but it is also their policy.
Their terms also state very clearly that if you use a discount code you weren't sent, you will be charged the full amount. They tell you this before checkout, so it's legal.

My horror story involves them sending me the wrong goods and charging me for items never received.
If you want a horror story use Ebuyer (DO NOT USE EBUYER). Ordered two cards for my PC they sent cheaper ones that were PCI-E instead of AGP and then I sent them back the following day, it took two months and me getting my bank involved for them to fucking refund me £400.

I'd dispute the very clearly bit
After a brief google I've found out that the particular code I used was advertised by them in the Metro, so they'd have a hard time claiming that code isn't legit. I'm ready for a fight if need be though.
I'm not entirely convinced I trust a website that tells me they've decided to use my postcode as a password and then links to an account at my address but in someone else's name.

Gotta say I've ordered 10's of thousands of pounds worth of stuff from eBuyer with no problems, even honoring blatently wrong prices, returns that where my fault (ordered wrong graphics card) with no charges... never had a problem, and communication is much quicker recently. I would hope your experience is not typical.

How recently is this because my experience was about 3 years ago. But I will never shop there again, they blatantly ignored my order and sent my 'alternative' products which weren't even the right connector type instead of cancelling my order.
I too have ordered thousands of pounds of gear from eBuyer over the last 2 years or so and they have always been fantastic. I even returned a clearly opened and used item because I bought the wrong thing and they took it back no questions asked.

I've been ordering for a good few years, there returns did used to be sketchy but they have really imporved. I think everyone has horror storys about certain online retailers, I have ordered 3 times from Overclockers.co.uk and every time I have had a nightmare, including being billed for 800quids worth of stuff twice. My friends however have never had a problem. I still wouldn't buy from OCUK however.

Yup - exactly the same experience here. Was building a new PC, ordered a CPU that was incompatible with my motherboard, got a full refund the day after my return arrived. Not only was there absolutely no fuss or quibbles, but thanks to the speed of even the free delivery I actually had my replacement inside of a week of actually having the problem.
Also, Ebuyer's great for ordering stupidly long and cheap cables. Fancy a 10m HMDI cable for £10? Course you do. Only shame is that the free delivery's for orders of £50+.
Hmm, a little too late to cancel my Littlewoods order, and the discount has yet to be paid back (it's in "pending items"). Should I be worried?
It takes them like 5 days to refund you that discount.
Righto, this weekend will either be joyous or hellish.
Well at least I get to play Shadow Complex :P

Yeah, ebuyer have always treated me right with returns and refunds; first they took back a motherboard that was incompatible with the processor I bought, then they took back its replacement without quibble after I effectively broke it - was confirmed as 'defective on arrival' by their claims people the day they got it and the replacement was dispatched the day after.
My only problem with ebuyer has been their insistence on Citylink as their delivery company, but then Citylink have been getting better lately too.

@gamefacts - Totally and utterly true gaming facts on the regular!
They have also done some pretty dodgy direct marketing too, which seemed so deceptive that it should be illegal (assuming it isn't)

Does seem like an odd thing to do though.
