Both Sainsburys near me sold out.

Everywhere else was £45, and fuck that.

Couldn't get to Morrisons. No MW2 for me.

If you are in no hurry, the Wireless N one has just come out in the US (not sure if it is out here yet), and I bet some retailers will drop the price of the g one when it does come out.

So folks, decision time for me.

    I have a crapload of Gamestation credit. I'd like a PS3.

I don't have a screen that the PS3 will look good on right now. Am planning on asking my wonderful mother who I love very much to get me a new monitor for Christmas.

Sainsburies currently have the PS3 Slim for £199.99, 20% off rrp.

I can probably get Gamestation to match that.

    So, prediction time.

Do you think that I should get a PS3 now when I know I can get a very good deal.

    or

Do you think I should wait til when I will actually have a screen that it will look good on, and when there might be excellent January sales.

Edit: and I do have a bit of a backlog, and am about to get my new PC :/

Hmm, I've not had complete confirmation that they would, but it was based on me asking them to price match MW2 and they said "Usually we would, but not on a big new game like this, and not by that much. It's managers discretion", so maybe they wouldn't.

It's funny, because price matching policies are basically a way of big retailers getting away with price collusion, since most people won't ever think to use them, but it is a nice wildcard to have if they ever received accusations of collusion.

I think I'll probably wait. I could always see how much I would be able to sell the Gamestation credit for, so I could shop around.

    Edit: I am thinking this

I'd be very surprised if Gamestation match £50 off a PS3 Slim (I presume it's not the 250GB)

Normally, I hear that they tend to modify packs a little by swapping the games for games people are after or matching packs other companies offer.

Bear in mind, I'm GAME, not Gamestation and just get my info through the grapevine for them. It's increadibly annoying that Gamestation managers get some flexibility for this, where GAME don't.

Also Lewie, I've had some upcoming exclusive deals come up. You fancy the info?

If it's still in warranty (I think you get 3 years cover for RROD) then it's best to just send it back. Every time I've done it, they've had it back in under a week and you get a free month of xbox live.

Just want to add that now's a pretty good time to get into DoW. The multiplayer's been largely balanced (although you'll have to put up with the quirky matchmaking, ask in the thread if you're wondering), and the Chaos Rising expansion pack should be coming out this coming March.

Be aware that there's no VGA cable available for the PS3, so a monitor would have to have component/HDMI inputs or you'd need to get a converter, which I use. But yeah, even in SD it looks fine and is well worth a purchase. I also have both Uncharteds and Infamous available to lend if you need.

I'll add a link to my sig.

    Also:
    BBC iPlayer becomes Wii Channel
A dedicated BBC iPlayer Channel will be available to download from November 18th, granting Wii owners access to on-demand catch-up TV and radio programming. The channel will offer a new full-screen user interface and higher quality videos.

Yay, it sounds like it will actually be usable now.

You don't actually need a license to watch stuff on the iplayer. You are completely allowed to watch it without one, it's just live stuff you can't watch.

Edit: Which is part of why I don't have a license. There's very little that isn't on the iPlayer but is on telly that I would want to watch. The odd film maybe.

Yeah - you don't need a licence, but that's more a side-effect of the BBC calculating that about 90% of the population has one anyway (or legally should have one). I got chatting to a guy who was working on the technical side of the iPlayer stuff about a year back, and he claimed an almighty turmoil in the upper management over the decision to not require a licence-fee for streaming. Giving free access to the entire world would have made it even less palatable, I'm afraid! BBC licensing fees overseas are super-profitable. Also, they were apparently working on getting the entire BBC archive up on iPlayer - Hancock's Half Hour, vintage Doctor Who and all. Don't know if we can expect to see it soon, or indeed ever!

Also, people should definitely jump on the super Overlord bundle on Steam for £6.25! Not only is is massively cheap anyway, we're only getting diddled to the sum of 20p over the US - a rare occurrence.
