I used to use the plastic Func mousepads but they wear out too quickly. Fed up with replacing my mousepad every couple years, I did some research and bought a cloth Steelseries mousepad the other week for $15, it's 14x19 inches, and it owns

Awesome setup though.

The button macros cut off the keyboard stream, Ie no moving/typing while hitting macros. Also there are issues with the mouse cutting out and left click not working out of the box. From amazon reviews you can also see that SteelSeries support has been shite for help on the matter.
i almost got one then saw all the negative reviews around. I's be very very wary of buying this one.

Anyone running the razer software in windows 7? Mine seems to think it works (to the point of detecting the USB port the mouse is in, and changing it if I move the USB port) and the mouse itself works of course, but now I can't turn off the lights on the mouse so I'm thinking the DPI settings aren't doing anything either. Reassigning buttons works in the software, though.
I never once was able to turn the glowing light off on my Deathadder in any operating system ever. Everything was updated to its latest version. Nothing.
I like my G5. The only thing I wish is one of the thumb buttons is on the right, and that there's some way of actually using the middle mouse button. As it is, it's useless, so I just use left and right. Still, 9-1 buttons is enough for most games. When playing WoW, that's a helluva lot of instant casts I can use with my mouse.
I think my ideal mouse would be if I could use every finger on my right hand to press a button.
Maybe a mouse keypad or something. Or maybe a joystick like interface, except instead of tilting a stick, you actually move your hand around. It would also be ergonomic since your hand is in the vertical position.
Are you talking about an object that you hold like a joystick with buttons all over the motherfucker but you move it around on your desk like a mouse? Because that sounds pretty neat, actually.
Yes, something like that. I took a human-computer interaction class once and one of the things is the commonly accepted way of doing stuff may not be that great. Like this finger mouse. I mean, that just looks like an awesome mouse for someone who only uses 2 buttons.
Actually not a bad idea. But I think a good future solution for mouses would be basically something like Wii Motion Plus as a mouse. i.e. No more mouse balls, no more lasers on the desk. Just direct communication between the mouse to the receiver about its position in space. Theoretically that also means 3d axis which means cool stuff (think space games). But from what I understood from my HCI class, actual 3D interfaces (like in Minority Report) generally suck because your arms get really tired, but that may be the huge hand-waving window dragging done in Minority Report. I don't think people get tired from their Wiimotes.
Recently my Deathadder has developed the annoying habit of double clicking on single left clicks. Not all the time, but maybe like 3-5% of the time, maybe not even that, but enough to be a little annoying at times. I've had this issue in the past with some old MS intellimice and always just ended up replacing them.
Do I need to do the same with this or is there some way to correct this? I've only has this one for about a year or so and wasn't looking to replace it quite yet, but if that's what I need to do then so be it. Not sure if I would replace it with the Razer Lachesis or go with a Logitech G5/G7.

My 1st copper head started doing this and it only got worse and worse. One time in tf2 I got really pissed and slammed my mouse down hard and it never did it again. I strongly advise you not to do what I did however.

Too late. Oddly enough also in TF2. Pyro shooting two little puffs out instead of a steady stream = dead pyro and a beating administered to the left button. However it only seemed to remedy the issue for a brief time as it was doing it again the next night.
If the mouse is out of warranty, you could try taking it apart and cleaning the contacts with alcohol.
While Razer offers a 2 year limited warranty on all wired mice, they also require a sales receipt as proof of purchase which I really doubt I could find as I purchased it a year ago and have since moved so I really wouldn't know where I put it.
Guess I'll be cracking it open sometime soon. Worst case I go buy a pretty new mouse and am out $60-80. Best case my already pretty mouse starts behaving again and I don't spend $60-$80.

Have you moved far enough that you couldn't go to the store and ask if they could print another receipt?

I'm wondering if this a problem with Razer mice. My Habu has been doing the same thing for about six months now. If I take it apart and put it back together, it behaves for a couple days, but then goes right back to the double-clicking.
I've been on the fence about what to do. On one hand, I like my Habu. On the other hand, I don't want to go buy another one and run into the exact same problem again.

the MX1000 is nice, i use it at work. Great ergonomics, but it's a bit heavy, and the battery is non removable, so if the battery dies in the middle of a gaming session, you're screwed.
The MX1000's DPI does kill it for gaming use though. I'm not one of those guys who needs 4000+ DPI mice(although i would really like a razer mamba), but 800 is just painful

Really? I think it's great for gaming. Never had a problem, it's as sensitive as I like.

Talios likes the high sensivity. He's one of those "if I have to move my hand more than an inch to get across 1900 pixels, the sensitivity is too low" people.
It's terrible for low sens as well because if you move too fast it just gives up and stops tracking. The 1000 is really comfy but I ditched it because the sensor is just crap.

I had the MX revolution before the sidewinder x8. It's a similar design. I loved it too. Loved eh weight personally, but the battery was a pain in the ass. It DID often die in the middle of a gaming session and I'd have to put it on the mount to recharge and get a backup mouse or something.
Which is why the ability to recharge while I play with the sidewinder x8 is so awesome. But I wouldn't have bought a new mouse if the MX didn't break.
Had my MX510 for years, but when I switched to XP 64, I couldn't run the standard set point, if I wanted anything I had to use the 64 bit version they offered for vista, as the download pages refuses to give you anything for XP64, not to mention the software is officially for the 518 iirc, the 510 wasn't even listed but it was recognized. It worked ok but for some reason it wouldn't recognize my middle mouse-button for an input key anymore. =/
Anyways, without the software the mouse is just too slow for me. Even with the slider in mouse properties maxed, and even in whatever game I was using it just wasn't the same. I got a Lachesis instead, because you know they actually offered working software for 64 bit. Works great, but it took awhile to get used to the side buttons that I'm constantly using for spells/abilities in WoW. My only problem is that it randomly glitches out, and moves the camera around to some odd angle. These mice have firmware upgrades though, and I haven't looked into it.
This has been my mouse experience, thank you.
I never see anybody talking about the MX620... and I think I know why. A friend of mine has one and the wheel is horrible - at one point it was so stiff he could barely move it, and at another it moved smoother than the wheel on my MX1000. Wtf.

But I need way more than 2. Hence joystick mouse.
Apparently, there's a crappy 2 button version by 3M. http://www.amazon.com/3M-Ergonomic-Mouse-SMALL-MEDIUM/dp/B00008KWWG
So now someone just needs to make it uncrappy and add more buttons to it. There's also the Zero Tension mouse.http://www.amazon.com/UltraLite-Tension-Mouse-Carpal-Tunnel/dp/B001BS7NMS which is supposedly a better design (ergonomically) but again, MOAR BUTTONS!

True, but good thing Razer didn't agree and not provide a driver/software for me.
