They are the the equivalent of these:

    http://www.amazon.com/EyeClops-Vision-Infrared-Stealth-Goggles/dp/B00153F5QA
    eyeclops-night-vision-goggles-infrared.jpg

It is pretty much a stripped down Sony Nightshot camera with an array of IR LEDs on them. The COD ones are in a plastic body that mimics the look of fully-functional NVGs (Which don't require an IR LED light source.)

Would definitely buy the CE if it came with a baby like that. Pregnancies are terrible, I hear.

The number of people that actually think they're getting real NOD's in this bundle makes me sad. Even a cheap pair of actual civilian NOD's costs more than this bundle. Not to mention the fact that real NOD's can't be shipped outside the US. If you're buying this to get real NOD's, save your money.

Is what you are getting in a plastic NVG shell. I'm not saying its not cool or anything. But don't get your hopes up that you'll be able to peek in windows without being spotted.

I took a prototype of our goggles into a dark room and had no problem navigating. These are definitely night vision goggles in the sense that they are goggles you wear and they let you see in the dark. I could peek in your window without being spotted, unless you happen to see infra-red. In fact, I'm doing it right now! *waves*

Just don't go hunting on some real NVG equipped farmers land wearing these guys. Your head will look like a lighthouse.

Also, that figure comes with hardened edition?
Is this a last minute thing or a country specific thing? It's the first I've seen it.
Me needs clarification as I'd donate my itty bitty testes for that figure.

Does anyone actually think that they're getting some kinda military grade goggles here? I havent seen anyone claim that, but maybe I missed something.

Infra-red LEDs that are used in Cameras glow a dull visual red.

Dark is a relative term. Not to mention that you won't be able to see any further than the IR LED can illuminate, and I'd be surprised if you could actually focus them. Focusing NOD's is pretty important, by the way. Well, it's important with real NOD's.

The ones used in cameras might, but most IR light sources aren't visible to the naked eye.

You missed the fact that "military grade" doesn't exist and you don't know the difference between military NOD's and civilian NOD's (or anything about night vision). NOD's are categorized by the generation they fall under (even civilian NOD's, some of which are on par or superior to military NOD's). These NOD's will probably be worse than most Gen 0 devices. Even if they're as functional Gen 0 NOD's their utility is limited by the power of the IR light source. So at best you'll probably have a set of goggles (which provide no depth perception) that functions like a weak flash light no one can see.

Why IW decided to try and model them after 7D's I'll never know. A monocle is a superior design for NOD's. They would've been cheaper to produce if they had been modeled after the 14's.

JTF2 would be nice to see in a game other than some single dude in Rainbow Six.
We also held up until very recently the longest range confirmed kill via scoped rifle. Which is pretty bad ass.

I just don't know how exciting it would feel to see our guys ride up on the bad guys on army green bicycles though.

Haha You don't get it. A fucking officer has to be there to witness the kill for it to officially be confirmed. When the shit hits the fan officers are giving orders and shit, not watching bullets go down range. Also, officers are not usually attached to sniper teams. I know people that have made longer shots.

So Canada's got the "longest kill that was observed by an officer" award. Very impressive. Putting officers with sniper teams, that's really tactical.

Hey, Canada is smart about this "war" on "terrorism". Why should they waste their money on a war they didn't provoke, like that country south of them did? You keep waving your cock over a swamp full of alligators, one is going to bite that shit off.

I went overseas 3 times, and every time, I kept asking myself, "Why are we fighting cavemen?"

At least CoD4 made sense. You don't want an underdeveloped power-hungry culture in posession of nuclear arms. That's like giving a toddler a pistol.

Ok, so now we fight about which system to get it on again (Ok, not really. And I swear to god, 1st person who brings up the tired kbam>controller BS is getting mailed anthrax):
Activision announced that two downloadable map packs will be released for Modern Warfare 2.[43] Microsoft stated at E3 2009 that these map packs would be made available for the Xbox 360 via Xbox Live before they would be released for other platforms.[44] Robert Bowling said that community response to the game and the first two downloadable map packs would be used in designing other potential map packs.[45]

Obviously, I stole that from Wikipedia.

IIRC, the same thing happened for MW. What I cannot remember is if PC got it for free or not.

EDIT: Oh yeah, leaked photos of the NVGs
