Trailer: http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/wherethewildthingsare/

Spike Jonze (Being John Malkovich, Adaptation, shit-tons of sweet music videos) + Dave Eggers (A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius) + soundtrack by Karen O (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) + awesome children's book = YESSSSSS

Edit: The song in the trailer (for those curious) is "Wake Up" by The Arcade Fire.

The trailer definitely had me at hello. Even despite my irrational dislike of the Arcade Fire.

Something more recent, longer, and better. Which now that I'm reading Wikipedia apparently PBS, the BBC, and the CBC created a live action one only a couple years back that I was not aware of. To the internets!

God damn, it looks like it was well worth the wait. I thought it was gonna be stuck in development hell when those rumors that they were reshooting the entire movie came around.

Wait, Dave Eggers wrote this movie? Jesus, this will be amazing.

Do you guys like how I just name-dropped Dave Eggers to show you how cultured I am, for having known of an author? Look, the point is that he's written just about all my favorite books, and the source material for this movie has been burned into my memories for my entire life. This is the perfect storm for greatness.

I've never read the book but Christ do I want to see this now. The people who design movie trailers are seriously incredible.

Also, does anyone know if that acoustic guitar'd version of Wake Up is a single or something? The studio version (from Funeral) is with gain'd electric guitars.

This must have been a much larger part of my childhood than I was aware. I have never gotten such a deep emotional response from a freakin movie trailer before. All the running and playing and roaring and jumping and just everything, plus the music...man. I did not see this coming at all.

Question: I wonder just how kid friendly this will be in reality...I'll be getting the book and reading it to my 3 year old daughter promptly, but I wonder if this movie will be geared to grab and hold her attention as well or if it will be mainly to awaken the inner child of my age group...preferably it will be both.
