I hope they do a Spider-Man reboot. So they can make Spider-Man movies that don't suck.
After the last movie, I envisioned one in which Kirsten Dunst is never allowed to act again, and they get Ron Howard's daughter to replace her as MJ, and Topher Grace replaces "sleepy voice" MacGuire as Peter.
Sigh. You know that wasn't what I was saying. Don't be obtuse.
edit: Back on topic. Is anyone else kind of having an issue with the animation in the promo videos? The main characters (Bats and the Joker) both seem kind of stiff, like the splicers in Bioshock or something.
Honestly as soon as they announced Topher grace as Venom I said " I hope they kill off Tobey in some horrible display and for some reason Topher Grace takes up the mantle of Spider-Man."
Because really, he would do the job much better.
I still stand by the fact that the third movie was best. It was technically "worse" than the first two, but while the first two were bad, the third transcended the barrier into "so bad it's good". And it actually had good fight scenes, so that was good.
As for Batman, I've never enjoyed watching a film in theaters as much as TDK. Everything was just so epic. And hearing all the reactions from the audience just made it that much better. People actually clapped at the end.

Insert standard "it's a pre-release build" disclaimer here.
It did look a little wooden but that's not the sort of thing I judge until the game is in stores.

I know they always say that, but I don't think I remember a single game where I've been told that and it actually did change come release day.
It's not a game-changer or anything, it won't stop me from enjoying the game, much like the animation in Bioshock didn't stop me from enjoying that game. It just strikes me as a little grating, considering how much effort they seem to be putting into the feel of the whole thing, and also considering it's a third-person, so wooden-Batman is going to be smack dab in the center of the screen the whole game.

I'd just like to make it very clear that anyone who hates the Spider-Man films doesn't get it
On topic: I don't really have a problem with the animations for gameplay but the cutscenes do have that wooden "look we totally mocapped this but then didn't bother with tightening up the animations afterward" thing that lots of games have
It's not a huge problem but it's something I wish more games focused on because I am an animation afficianado

I think I would like the Spiderman movies more if they weren't 90% CG. And this game looks tits. I've been waiting for a "real" Batman game forever now. If this game isn't any good, I may kill myself.
I would actually say that yes, Spider-Man 2 wasn't aiming to be a good film. The Dark Knight was trying to be a good film, and succeeded, but Spider-Man 2 was trying to be a comic book on the big screen, and it also succeeded.
My personal opinion of course, but I like both movies for what they are individually.

On topic of the game, I want a demo .
And I can only assume Spider-Man 3 was trying to be celluloid-projected excrement, and succeeded at that too!
Don't get it? I've eaten and breathed Spider-Man since I was a toddler and I think the films are a travesty. The actors are crap, the fights were crap. Oh, and the writing was crap. That was not the Peter Parker I know and love.
Okay, Batman game. Everything looks pretty sweet to me. The only thing that I look at and don't like is the weird bolts Bats has on his suit. Looks kind of like Frankenstein.
Sam Raimis job is to do what hes asked and make it good. Not being able to do what he wanted isn't an excuse for not doing it well and it doesn't explain the retcon which I doubt ANYONE handed down as a suggested change.

No no fuck you
It is not the director's job to be studio's bitch, it is the director's job to make an entertaining film
Raimi hated the Venom character something fierce and hated being told what he had to include in his film so he went all passive-aggressive and made the whole sideplot a satire of the entire Venom character and no one noticed
BATMAN GAME: I think I remember an article saying that you will be able to choose which areas to go to first. I wonder if this will have a significant effect on gameplay or if it's like the Prince of Persia sort of thing where it doesn't really matter which one you choose first
I think it would be really cool if they had a section of the game that wasn't set in the prison. Like Joker escapes in a blimp and you chase him in the bat mobile and end up fighting on a skyscraper.
Not that I don't like the prison idea, I just think it's cool when a game has you stuck in one area for a good chunk of the game and then BAM you leave it. And then its like whoa.

If I remember right, that has already been used in a Batman game, that was based on the animated series and had their voice actors as well...
...or at the very least, "Joker," "Blimp," "Batmobile chase," and "fight on a skyscraper" were all connected and happened in rapid succession.

I really enjoyed Spider-Man 2, but that CGI simply doesn't hold up. Watch the train sequence again. The two civilians Doc Ock throws into traffic, those might as well be blow up dolls for how much they resemble real people. And CGI Doc Ock himself looked pretty fake.
Great film, obsolete CGI.
And the third one was complete unmitigated bullshit, I don't care what you say.

Can't we put all this disruptive bickering about the Spiderman movies aside, and rally around something we all love unconditionally, such as the Ang Lee Hulk movie?
Back to this game, I don't think I'm too concerned about it all being located in Arkham. You can still pack a lot of variety in that concept, as it's a big sprawling complex added to over the decades so you can have different environments that have to be tackled using different gameplay strategies, and hopefully the villain bosses are all going to be pretty different. Games like Bioshock and Deadspace managed to keep things interesting while being set in essentially one big complex, too.

I'm really hoping that Arkham Asylum unseats Hulk: Ultimate Destruction as the BEST SUPERHERO GAME EVER. Having an awesome Batman game finally would make my year.

I still love the Spider-Man 2 movie game, for no other reason but the beautiful web swinging. I just couldn't get enough of racing around the city. I can only hope Batman's grapple-hooking is even a fraction as fun.

Second one was better
Personally I can't wait to see if they actually managed to make a good Batman game. It's been so long it would be like the Red Sox winning the World Series

But will Batman have a stealth sequence as awesome as the Hulk's in that game?
Hulk rips the guts out of a covered military truck, puts the shell over him, and tiptoes around Looney Tunes-style.

Lego Batman was good. And Justice League Heroes was a good game that had Batman in it. Needed to be longer, but still.

Lego Batman was a Lego game so I don't think it should count

Unless there's a point in this Batman game where said titular hero can carry a giant mech up the side of a huge skyscraper, then bodyslam it onto a tank from sixty stories up, I'm gonna say "not gonna happen".

But my guess is that they're talking bullshit.
The problems were a) Sam Raimi was forced to do things he didn't wanna, b) it was a satire, and c) it came after the excellent Spider-Man 2
Still, on it's own, it's a pretty hilarious film

Of all the people in the films, hes probably the one to have the least complaints against him.
Except Bruce.
