I'm really hoping that Arkham Asylum unseats Hulk: Ultimate Destruction as the BEST SUPERHERO GAME EVER. Having an awesome Batman game finally would make my year.
Unless there's a point in this Batman game where said titular hero can carry a giant mech up the side of a huge skyscraper, then bodyslam it onto a tank from sixty stories up, I'm gonna say "not gonna happen".
I think he was going for the "feels like the superhero should feel" concept of "best superhero game," rather than just general awesomeness. Hulk: UD is awesome because it makes you feel like an unstoppable rage-buffed powerhouse, which is what Hulk is. If Arkham Asylum makes you feel like a silent, stalking, terror-inducing face-breaking tactical genius detective then it will also be awesome, because that's what Batman is.
You're right, why play a tight, contained, well-written/voiced Batman game when we can play a boring Batman game with 9 easy bosses and 3 repeatable sub-missions.
Man. This thread is getting derailed more than the monorail at the end of Batman Begins.
Man, the monorail episode in the Simpsons is still pretty damn funny.
Is there a chance the tracks will bend? Not in your life my hindu friend!

As long as this doesn't have preposterously high system requirements, I'm going to enjoy making goons crap their pants in terror.
For a second there, I actually thought you meant this would have multiplayer. And somethingawful people would be playing.

A Batman game with multiplayer in which one of you is Batman and the rest are heavily armed, trigger happy thugs would be just about the most imbalanced game ever created

And it would give the 'thug' players an excuse to say typical henchman stuff like, "It's the bat! Kill him!"

It'd be pretty similar to Splinter Cell multiplayer.

And The Hidden, an old HL2 mod with a bunch of heavily armed soldiers vs. one invisible guy with a knife.

OMG. I forgot about that mod. Best Half-Life 2 mod ever. Multiplayer where you get to play as a thug against 1 person playing batman would be fantastic. Perhaps an expansion or a sequel?

I would actually say that yes, Spider-Man 2 wasn't aiming to be a good film. The Dark Knight was trying to be a good film, and succeeded, but Spider-Man 2 was trying to be a comic book on the big screen, and it also succeeded.
I never get it when people say this. It's like when people say that The Dark Knight isn't a comic book movie, as if comic books can't be well written or realistic. They're mostly made by people that've never read the comic and have no clue that there have actually been a LOT of realistic takes on Batman.
Anyway, a lot of games seem to have 1 vs many multiplayer modes, I don't see how it wouldn't work in Batman. They'd probably need to lower the brightness level for the thugs, so you could actually sneak around in the shadows but it should be fine.

Yea, that was the problem with Splinter Cell multiplayer. The lighting wasn't quite dark enough, so the spies just ran around like crazy and abused smoke grenades.
God I wish I could enforce the Joker's control over Arkham. Then I'd get to meet Batman!
Maybe that's why the Joker still gets lots of henchmen even though he's been captured and recaptured numerous times
"Well this whole criminal enterprise is doomed to failure and you might kill me for no reason at a moment's notice, but on the other hand, I might get to meet Batman!"
On one hand, I regret seeing the cartoonish innocence that characterized her - an innate creation from her saturday morning roots - vanish like so.
On the other hand is my dong.
I'm pretty surprised. You thought Harley Quinn had some sort of cartoonish innocence?
I always thought of her as that character getting abused and fucked by the psychotic clown murderer. That's not cartoonish innocence.
Let's not kid ourselves, she was a romantic interest for The Joker, the worst serial killer in all of Gotham. If that's not disturbing, I don't know what is.

I thought it did what the Hulk does best.
Mindless destruction.
Edit: Also, Edward Burton and Tim Roth
He is the best Burton.
Edward Norton?
(I was being sarcastic)
(me too.)
EDIT: In other news, this Batman game looks very cool!
BUT YES! BATMAN! GAME! AWSOME YES? YES! MY PARENTS ARE DEAD! I'M THE GOD DAMN BATMAN! FACE BUTTONS! (So on and so forth.)
Seriously, sporadically throughout my playthrough of Assassin's Creed, I would just pretend I was playing a Batman game.
What? yes it was.
It wasn't the greatest thing to ever hit film, but it was a good, solid action movie.
also, the best part in EITHER Hulk film is still the Hulk vs. tanks/military fight in the Ang Lee movie, though the newer movie was better overall.
You are correct sir.
That fight is and will always be epic.
Passable at best as an action film, certainly not a good movie.
Anyways, pre-ordering the special edition probably.
Man, the monorail episode in the Simpsons is still pretty damn funny.
