Camcorder help

Alright so, a follow up to a thread I made a while ago...

I already got a digital camera for my 2 year trip abroad (thanks everyone for the Canon G9 recommendations), but it seems that my family wants to get me a camcorder as well. I can only imagine that they want to make me film some embarrassing things to update them with.

Now, I am well versed with cameras, but I have not owned a camcorder for the past 10 or so years. Here's what I'm looking for:

-$300 or less, but this can be negotiable
-Decent video quality (does not need to be super HD)
-Ability to easily upload videos to my computer for blogging
-Good durability, as well as "brand name" reliability
-Fair amount of portability (easy to carry without looking like I'm working on a film set)

I know this is vague, and I apologize. I've been looking at some Sony Handycams, but I definitely don't want to just pick something randomly. If anyone has any experiences with current camcorders then that would help me out so much. Again, I don't need something super fancy, but I do want people to be able to easily identify what I'm filming without straining their eyes.
