I'll wager his processor is too old, I had the same problem on one box.
Theres some instruction set the game uses that processors older than I think Athlon XPs don't have, and if your processor doesn't support it, the game won't launch. If I remember right, Croak said they hope to implement an error message for this at some point in the future.
The only fix for this by the way, is buy a new processor.
Automatching is making me rage.
I've gotten three consecutive Ravener players, each between 15 & 30 ranks above me.
You're aware that uh... rank doesn't necessarily denote true skill, right? That's what TrueSkill does. You get TrueSkill to judge true skill. Ranks just tell you how long a guy's been playing.

To be fair, ravener something something no skill something.
I really hope the patch comes out tomorrow. Or Friday, I guess. I haven't played for weeks.
If it's delayed longer, I might just have to throw DoW2 in my pile of regretable videogame purchases. Except I bought it on Steam so it can't really go in a pile. You get the idea anyway.

Disapproving the notion that absence makes the heart grow fonder. Nice.

My absence from the game has been because the bugs and the current balance situation have rendered the game unenjoyable for me and after trying to enjoy myself with it, I eventually gave up and decided to wait for the patch, but oh wait, this is Relic we're talking about.
That's not really the sort of absence that makes one grow fond of something and the longer it gets, the more bitter the taste.

Ya know, 3vs3 is pretty fun still.
That's what I was playing. I haven't played a 1v1 since beta because it didn't seem like it would an enjoyable experience with the current buggy and imbalanced state of the game.
But eventually the crap just became too much. 1v1, 3v3, I don't care, the game is broken enough that it's just not fun.
We played a game a little bit ago where Smaug dropped and the computer used his falcons to block my tanks and nobs from retreating on typhon arena. Cost me my entire army.
I wonder why we can't just get control over our teammates units when they drop, rather than have the single worst RTS ai ever created take over.
1. When using a targeted ability, ensure that your unit is already within range, and has a clear line of sight.(This also helps avoid the whole 'used the energy and cooldown and nothing happened bug')
2. If your commander is capping a point, and anything that stuns or knockbacks comes within range, stop capping the point.
Anyone else noticed anything else that consistently causes loss of control?
I once had my Mekboy just lose the ability to use his abilities. He had the energy, they weren't on cooldown. But for about half the game he couldn't teleport, throw mines, activate shield whatever.
We're on track for a patch tomorrow, with the caveat that shit can still asplode.
We'll also be posting the HUGE changelist for the patch after that in the near future. Did I mention it was huge? Not just huge with fixes, there's some meaty goodness coming down the pike too.
And starting Friday, I'm off the grid for several weeks, like I mentioned earlier. I slapped together a shitty little blog for the trip, if anyone wants to stalk me, virtual or otherwise.

You've made a similar statement twice so far. Forgive me for not believing you this time.

See, this is why developers always just say When It's Done.

Cause of guys like you.
Maybe Croak is all of Relic and that is their secret all along. They are actually just a single guy making the whole game.
when it's done is the opposite end of the spectrum. How about we meet each other somewhere in the middle?
give us a timeframe that you can hit. You say "sometime in the next two weeks"? Fine!

We were shooting for Monday, that didn't happen, I said Wednesday would be the earliest possible date, and we're hoping to deliver on Thursday. 4 day window there, a bit tighter than two weeks.

You seem to be missing my point.
Giving precise dates and missing them doesn't instill faith in your peons.
Instead, all you do is strengthen the notion that you're incompetent.
I'm really wanting to like you croak, but you're making it rather difficult.
If only you had the mind warping powers of your avatar!

Anyone who has played with me has heard me scream at my Lictor out of frustration.
I wonder why we can't just get control over our teammates units when they drop, rather than have the single worst RTS ai ever created take over.

can it be avoided?
https://medium.com/@alascii
It can be easily avoided.
I've been avoiding it quite successfully the past few weeks.
Never retreat or use an ability that targets.
Also, in a game earlier today, my Lictor lost the ability to flesh hook and attack entirely.

I still had fun in 3 v 3 though with cake and everyone.
All I want to do is make warp spiders.
I think that's why we lost.
fun game, though!

I'm also now hoping that the Warp Spider Exarch gets a buff to damage.

I never asked for this!
I left because I was told they didn't want to play with me so I am playing something else instead.
what? who? in any event, how can i properly snub you if you don't say hi?
You asked where I was and I said where and why.

He gets a ranged damage buff.

or at least make ATSKNF marines take longer than 5 seconds to kill banshees?
