I don't see how this is punishment BA. You're just reinforcing Atlus, and also increasing the chances of dip, crazy or not.

I have to admit, I got a Hufflepuff-themed Lanyard from Liger and everything in anticipation of the theme not changing. I think she finished it just last week. =( Hufflepuff 4 life either way. =)

A couple Mormons doing car bombs with their legs tied together. That's what.

edit: dear god, this is a great pub crawl idea. I may partake in Mormanism even if Atlus switches back to Harry Potter.

So. If this is gonna be "officially" called "Twilight Drinking Tournament", shouldn't it be retitled as "Second Annual Drinking Tournament: The Twilight Version" or something to that sort? 'Cause since it is the first time that we ever mention "Twilight" and "Drinking Tournament" together.

I'm pretty sure this was brought up, but I'm too lazy to read through since April Fools.

Finally I have a few moments to make a bit of an appeal. I apologize for the length of this. =)

I hope this situation doesn't cause tension in the community. Remember guys, we're all in this together, and all friends! =( Hopefully some peaceful, non-splintering accord can be made. I think that probably the most sad situation that could possibly come from all of this would be a fracturing and/or resentment in our group... which would be very unfortunate indeed. =(

Maybe everyone needs to get together and have a bit of a pow-wow about this whole situation. We need to try to proactively avoid hurting anyone's feelings in this situation, regardless of what side of the fence we all sit on the Twilight issue.

Just to bring up where I stand on it for the sake of full disclosure... I'd rather have the Harry Potter theme, mostly because (A) I was getting psyched up with the pre-planning dynamics, (B) because I like the Harry Potter theme more than Twilight in general, even though before the planning of this year I was still kind of "meh" on it... the planning drummed up an excitement that boosted the Harry Potter theme to me... and (C) because I've already spent money getting some Hufflepuff-themed attire/accessories going in anticipation... and I think a few people here already have as well. The thing is, even if it was a theme I'd like a lot more than Harry Potter (Final Fantasy VI, for example), I'd probably feel some sense of hesitation at changing it right now merely due to the preparation/excitement build-up that's already been made, the sides that have been chosen etc.

Atlus, if your hearts' set on it, I don't want to crap all over you or anything, and I really want you to understand that. You're a good guy, and a good friend, and the last thing I (or anyone here I think) would want is for something silly like this to create unnecessary conflict... and I'll be there no matter what, and you know that hopefully. In the end, it's indeed not worth losing friendship about... but it IS worth, in my opinion, talking about and hopefully coming to some kind of neutral ground that makes everyone happier.

In this spirit, given the planning that has already taken place for the Harry Potter theme, what about a compromise? For example, if we know in advance that, say, PAX 2010 will be a Twilight theme but 2009 would stay Harry Potter, I think everyone would be fine with that. I guess I shouldn't speak for everyone, but I'd be fine with that personally if it would be a reasonable middle ground to you. Knowing in advance that it's Twilight, and that this is the last year of the Harry Potter theme, would let us continue to use the excitement that we generated last month to give the Harry Potter theme one last send-off... and then there'd be no surprise about a Twilight theme taking place next year, so no one can be shocked/taken aback by the decision. Just tossing that idea out there... let me know what you think! =)

Honestly, having a theme for it in general is kind of a bad idea, because a) even if it were kept Harry Potter it'd get old, and b) when you inevitably change it people will make fun of mormons. :P

I think you have hit on the major issue here. It's not that everybody has some mega hardon for Harry Potter per se (some do, most don't), but rather that discussion earlier this year led everybody to believe that the theme was being revisited, and most importantly, people started planning around it. People started planning their costumes, ideas like the HRAA were hatched, and people even made their own graphics and stuff (buttons even? I don't know). Now, out of nowhere, and worst hours before April Fool's, it has been like 'SURPRISE, THEME CHANGE, BITCHES! Forget all the ideas you had!' Some kind of warning or discussion, in my opinion, was warranted. The Pre-PAX Dinner usually has a pre-official thread to get people acquainted with the direction and get feedback before it's finalized, and the official thread is not going to be radically different because that's would nullify the point, and that's what happened here. It's not to say that an organizer has to be wholly the community's bitch and do whatever the majority wants, but rather don't bait and switch. All this cluster is a direct result of people being (rightly) confused and miffed at what between the pre- and official threads appears to be nothing less than a bait and switch.

However, for the record, in this current, altered reality I'm all up ins Clan Belmont and my wife has indicated she probably will be too.

Personally, if it is a prank, I chalk it up to my severe - and prestated - gullibility. =) I can't speak for everyone, but pulling a prank on me is a bit like racing a one-legged man... you're going to win the race, but that's not really a great accomplishment. =) lol
