Final Fantasy IX (ファイナルファンタジーIX, Fainaru Fantajī Nain?) is a console role-playing game developed and published by Square (now Square Enix) as the ninth installment in the Final Fantasy series. It was released in 2000 and is the third and last numbered Final Fantasy game for Sony's PlayStation. The game introduced new features to the series, such as the "Active Time Event", "Mognet", and a revamped equipment and skill system.
Set in the fantasy world of Gaia, Final Fantasy IX's plot centers on a war between several nations, sparked by an ambitious queen named Brahne. Players follow a young thief named Zidane Tribal, who joins with several others to defeat the Queen. The plot shifts, however, when the characters realize that
Brahne is a puppet for an arms dealer called Kuja.
OMG spoilers!I've wanted to do a Let's Play for a while, and I am sufficiently bored enough that it must become a reality. Final Fantasy IX is my favorite Playstation-era Final Fantasy. Or is it? It's the only one I've played through more than once (I played all 3 when they came out, so it's been a while for 7 and 8) but I replayed 9 a few years ago. It's that time again though, why not? Will the game be as good as I remember it? At this point I remember more about 7 and 8, thanks to various Let's Plays of both. Good for experiencing the game without hunting down CDs (I still can't find Disc 2 of Final Fantasy 7, I know I had it somewhere...)

Well, that was short. Here we are introduced to my favorite PSXFF protagonist, Zidane. More fun than Cloud, much less emo than Squall, he was a welcome change in my opinion from the obnoxious grumpiness that was Squall Leonheart. So, what's his name? Please don't say Goku.

Just finished reading through the Crystalis LP from the archive so I'm a bit partial to the name currently.
You should do a Excalibur II run. It'll be the quickest FF LP since Mystic Quest.

Also, I think Zidane's name should be Happy. It would make so many scenes so much goofier.
But then again, I'm a sad little creature who derives fun from naming Garnet "Garnet". Still, I like the sound of Happy the Thief.

And no, this won't be an Excalibur II run. I've never done it, but rushing through the game and skipping the cutscenes would make for a boring Let's Play.

And I know I'm going to get shit for this, but I never got past the first disc on IX. I just couldn't get into it. So, I'll probably follow this because I'm too broke/lazy to go buy this again.
