Okay. Well the only option is to sync the save file between my PC and laptop, which is easy enough to do. I just need to know what directory the save file is in.

Quick question - anyone know how to sync two pc's to the same save / completion state? Is there one save file you can move back and forth?
In a XP system the save data is located at
..\Steam\SteamApps\common\plants vs zombies\userdata
On Vista its located at
C:\ProgramData\Steam\...
The Vista location had be baffled for a bit
yeah, I've got Vista and I checked:
C:\ProgramData\Steam\PlantsVsZombies\
and documents and settings and I haven't found the file.
Can someone help, I'm trying to get my wife set up on a different computer so I can play more "Guns vs Zombies".
I just did a search. It's at C:\ProgramData\Steam\PlantsVsZombies\userdata
I don't have a "ProgramData" folder under "C:", I have "Program Files" and "Program Files (x86)"...
Try searching for users.dat. That was the first file created in that directory. Presumably a master profile file. It's been created for every popcap games I've got.

I've got nothing, but that could be because I'm not entirely sure how to search in Vista... Windows key "F" still works right?
Honestly, guys? He dropped a giant fire/ice ball and you didn't think to use the ice/fire things you had sitting around? That's like... Zelda 101 level of brainless problem solving.
Yeah, you're right--it should have been obvious, especially since that theme is carried on through-out the game. For example, the jalepenos, being hot, also get rid of the ice left by zombonis. Heck, it may even be mentioned in the almanac.
I think the thing is this:
1. The main portion of the adventure game is easy enough that even semi-softcore gamers like myself can beat it without actually having to learn everything there is to know about the plants and zombies.
2. I agree, yes, Zelda-101-simple, but the problem is it's been an awfully long time since I played Zelda, and in the interim there has been Magic the Gathering. You'll remember that's the one where you can play Firebreathing on a Wall of Water and it works. Magic, and other goofy games like it, have taught me to not assume that a game will have a consistent, it-just-makes-sense, style logic.
Hey guys, I bought this game last week and I am in love. Best $10 I ever spent.
I'm on Level 5-6 I think, and I'm having trouble with the big guy with the axe and the littler guy on his back... Any tips>
To kill him use any two lethal-kill plants on him. For example: two jalapenos or two squashes or a jalapeno and a squash, etc. You can kill him with conventional plants to, but, obviously, it will take an insanely huge amount of damage. Back when I was playing the main adventure portion of the game, I never encountered more than one or two per level. I didn't actually know how to kill him then so he tramped all the way through, but then got taken out by either the lawnmower or the roof cleaner for that lane, and then I rebuilt to survive the level.
If you're on the roof and you don't have roofcleaners, you should probably buy them.
