So far, my only problem with the game is that it's too easy. Other than that relatively small quibble (which I imagine will go away as I get farther into the game and unlock more stuff), it's solid gold. I love the variety of plants & zombies - a lot more variety & a cleverer than I've seen in other tower defense games.
Also, I somehow managed to miss the zombie between pogo and bungie.
I'm still missing it too, even after clearing most of the minigames/puzzles/survival stages.
Ah. According to the Tree of Wisdom, it's...
A yeti zombie that only appears when "it's pitch black out." I guess that means the last stage of the fog levels?

Gah, I was expecting this game to be a fun diversion, but it's like mainlining digital crack
This game feels like so much more than any PopCap game that have come before it. It has humor, some genuine strategy and lots of replay value with 20 extra mini-games plus all the different combinations of plants in survival and adventure modes.
Peggle was a fun little diversion that you could waste an hour on. I'm already 2 hours past when I expected to go to bed, and I feel like I've barely dented PvZ. Best $10 I've spent in a long time.
Yeah, for some weird reason, windows 7 on my Eee won't play nice with this game. I vLited it, and am getting Parental Control lockout errors, but there's no place to set the parental control options, most likely because I vlited it out. No other game shoots back that error though, and my desktop plays it just fine (unfortunately).
Woe is me. Looks like I can't waste even more time when I'm out and about.
That fucking song is stuck in my head now for the second day running. And I haven't even bought the full game.
The popcap masterminds will turn it off... ummm ... I mean I'm sure it will go away after you buy the full game. No idea why though. <.< >.>
I'm at the level where the pool is introduced. I think its the third one. Most games I usually end up with 6-7 sunflowers, an ice and a double pea shooter in each row, with a triple shooter or two spread around. I just got the flaming trunk plant last level. I tried it before I realized that it turns my ice peas into regular ones. Not sure if I'm going to modify my strategy to incorporate the flame or no.

The trouble with having an open mind, of course, is that people will insist on coming along and trying to put things in it. ~ Terry Pratchett
The extra damage is nice, but I like volume of fire over increased damage. The pricetag for it is a bit hefty, and it becomes rendered somewhat useless a little later on. You'll find out why when you get there.
In short, the space in both your seed list and on the field could be better occupied.

I pretty much stick to as many threepeaters as I can behind some reasonable defenses.
My strategy for the pool was pretty much two rows of sunflowers in the back, a threepeater in the third space from the left on the two lanes adjacent to the pool, and repeaters and snow peas doing the bulk of the damage.
I'm loving the game so far, but I think my favorite levels are the ones preceded by a note where you just get whatever plants come down the conveyor belt.
Also, I'm a little sad that I can't keep spamming little free mushrooms now that it is daytime again.
Two rows of sunflowers? Shit, I never did more than one and made a few twin sunflowers as needed.
I think I usually end up with about a column and a half. I feel a bit sunshine starved if I make less, but 2 columns seems a bit excessive. Also, I haven't gotten to twin sunflowers yet.
Also general note: They're columns dammit, not rows.

I felt the same way, but even by the end of the second level they are starting to become obsolete. I imagine when I get to the next night time level I won't even use them.
Or should I?

Fireballs do splash damage. And they're twice as strong as peas. There's really no reason to use frozen peas over them.

Well... they're free.
So I always use them as much as I can, and then start replacing them with real defenses when they become available.
On those night missions I often had close to every space occupied.
Having a lot of fun with the game, I love the huge amount of tactics you can use (I'm in level 5-9 currently).
What I really miss is an online mode where you and another guy play against each other, one as plants and one as zombies. Or just allowing you to do it on a computer with 2 mice. Man it would be awesome 8-)
But really 2 columns might be a little overkill. I normally have enough sun to make every thing I need with one. Especially now that I bought the "double sun" upgrade.

I almost always do two columns.
The exception was pool stages where I did just two sunshrooms on lillypads for a total of 10.
Man I always do 2 rows of sunflowers, followed by 2 rows of damage dealers and wallnuts.
Same here. I'm never want for sun in the later parts of the levels. Though I do usually end up replacing some of the back sunflowers with more damage dealers once I've built up a sufficient cache of sun.
Though with the double sunflower upgrade, this strategy may be less necessary. In the later levels space seems more of the limiting resource than sun.

8am final tomorrow morning, for which I have to wake up at 6:30 because I have to be awake enough to drive myself there. This does not bode well.

Btw, imo the OP title should be something about the zombie notes. "pool party? We'll b over"
I then proceeded to pay for it once the demo time ran out. $9.99 seemed like a really good price.
Ive gotten into about 3-4.

Make sure to lay down a column of spike pits, it kills the zomboni right away.
Wow that's some dedication. I'm to busy for that, as I know I would lose to much time, so I'll just have to keep my eye on the clock. All day. Damn.
