I unlocked Zombatany today. That mode is awesome, but very hard. I never have enough money to build any respectable defense.
Also it was the first time I lost a level. I could have used more screaming from inside the house.
Use wallnuts.
I did that, but it caused me to not have enough money to build the plants I needed to fend off the future waves. I'm going to try it again later though using wallnuts, so I'll see what that gets me.

There's a Zombotony 2 as well. Have fun with that.
I felt so good about beating Zombotony. I didn't even get to bask in that glow for an hour before you go and tell me this. I'm certainly getting the hang of the different combos though, so hopefully I won't let any brains get eaten.

It's a barrel of laughs.
But it's not actually that much harder than the first one. Just bring more squash/cherry bombs/explody things.
I cleared zombotany 2 using only two rows of sunflowers shielded by nutwalls, two water rows filled with cattails and the last two rows full of spikes.
hint: they can't do anything against rows with nothing but spikes.
Peashooters, walls, chompers, and the occasional squash were more than enough for me.
Getting the gold trophy just makes it tell you how many times you've cleared Adventure mode. Sort of lame, and it's a bit pathetic to play through it given how easy most of the stages are when you've got the full kit available. I'm just missing that yeti zombie... and most of the store crap. Nothing left looks interesting/useful, so I just keep throwing my money away on the tree of wisdom.
you get an umbrella plant I never used that protects from projectiles and bungees. the freezing peas slow them down then if there are enough other turrets aimed at that square, you could kill it before it lifts up
I never bothered with the umbrella plant either. I just sucked it up and replaced what they took. You can hit them with whatever though, so if you've got an open space nearby (or at least in the same row for the chili peppers), then you can explode them if you're fast enough. When they show up in the survival stages, you can always just freeze all of them at once with the ice shrooms too to give your other plants time to take them out.
I just completed this. the ending was fucking awesome.
now I've finished it, I'm coming up with more strategic ideas. I think the combined power of Ice Peas and Kernel-pults could create a serious zombie-halting force...
I don't know if somebody mentioned it before, but try typing "future" while playing. The zombies will start to wear crazy futuristic goggles. The Tree of Wisdom told me about it.

so does tallnut replace wallnut completely? seems too expensive..
It's expensive but worth it for the dolphin riders and the pole vaulters.
The recharge on the Tall Nut is faster than the Wall Nut, which is vital when you're trying to get your initial defenses up (on daytime levels). Tall Nut is heartier as well, so you end up replacing him less often than you would with Wall.
And I found the umbrella plants to be of great use on the later roof levels. It takes just 4 to cover the entire field (except the front wall), and it ends up saving you a lot more sunshine than the 400 it cost to put them down. Then you can focus on replacing sunflowers / cabbage launchers with double sunflowers / watermelon launchers.

I bought it off steam for $10, but I get an Exception error when trying to play this on linux using wine. I wonder if I should have bought it directly from popcap. (Costs more but I don't think it has drm, peggle runs find using wine)
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.

Is the second time through the campaign more difficult, or is it just me?
It's very much just you. Unless you actually feel limited by Crazy Dave's random selections. Sometimes it's a little annoying, but it's totally random, so if he does something asinine, like give you coffee, marigold, and starfruit, you can always just close the game entirely and reopen it for a new selection.
It is harder (for example, you have all lanes open from the first round), but not that much. There are very few plants that are actually worthless so having a mere three randomized isn't a big deal. Shit, I did most of the game with two fewer seeds so having three be random isn't a huge challenge.
This game is entirely more amazing than it should be. I just hit my first zombonie and zombie bobsled team. They promptly wrecked my shit, however this time I shall be prepared for their march of icy doom!!
Bring chili, squash, potato mines, spikes, the spike upgrade, and peashooters. If you get rid of the ice, nothing appears but weak things and the zombonis, so as long as you get that under control, it's a snap. Use the potato mines and squash as cheap ways to deal with the zombonis early. Wallnuts also help if you want to group up bobsled teams to then squash/mine all at once. Don't be afraid to totally abandon a row and just let a lawnmower clear it away. Once you've got your flowers down and enough cash, use a chili to clear away the ice and put down a spike/upgrade and that row's pretty much completely safe. Maybe toss up a peashooter or another spike to deal with the random zombies. The upgraded spikes will wear down eventually, but it takes about 10 zombonis, which is more than enough time to put down more.

Cob cannon is amazingly badass. I set up six in the Last Stand mini-game and just blew up all the zombies.
It is the best.

I think im on 3-9 now
no, really.
I had two rows filled with nothing but spikes.
In fact you could probably win this level with nothing but flowers and spikes if it wasn't for the pool part.
5-10. Day, night, pool, fog, roof.
4-10 was probably the most fun stage though.

Just ignore the fog, put free shrooms all over the place while you build up a real defense, and use the fan once in a while.

Yes. Try 'mustache' too.
Steam ID : rwb36, Twitter : Werezompire,
I'm going to try upgrading wine tonight.
Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
Whoops, sorry, spoiler alert.
I finished with some spare money and lots of blank spaces so there's room for improvement.
edit: Ooh, I know! A cob cannon!
