My housemate gifted a friend of his (who is getting married) with some champaign for the reception, and he got a thank you note from both the couple and the (groom's?) mother.
He would like to know if it is expected to write them back for this.
Having not been on the planning side of any weddings, I don't know.
What say you?
...and when you are done with that; take a folding
chair to Creation and then suplex the Void.
And start an unending cycle of thank-you notes, which would undoubtably spawn a vortex of gratitude the likes no one has seen since the Today Show good morning death spiral of '08? I. Think. Not.

Nope... if the gifter really wants they could say 'thanks' for the thank you card next time they bump into the wedding couple, but that's as far as I'd take it

Do you spend the next week checking the mail in anticipation of a thank you card for your thank you card?
If you actually got a thank you card for your thank you card, would that make you feel good, or very confused about what you should do next?
I would act according to how you answered those questions.
