From what I've heard he is pretty decent and supposedly better than some other characters like Fei Long and Vega, but he doesn't play like other shotos since he doesn't really have a fireball. More of a rush down character, I've heard.
I've been playing C Viper lately, she's a lot of fun but I'm nowhere good enough to pull off her crazy combos and feints.
Also I picked up Samurai Shodown Anthology for PS2 today. SS6 is nuts, there's a million characters and you can play as Galford's dog or Chamcham's monkey.

I play Dan a lot, to the point where I can say I'm really fucking good with him, but he's definitely a lower tier than Vega and Guile, for four reasons:
1) Outside of his shoryuken, his moves have low priority.
2) A lot of his moves, like his c. rk, are very slow to execute.
3) His moves, including his super and ultra, just don't deal that much damage
but the main, unforgivable part of Dan, is:
4) HIS FUCKING ULTRA CAN BE BLOCKED WITH A FOCUS ATTACK. YES, A FOCUS ATTACK ABSORBS HIS ULTRA.

I have done some things online with gen that I did not know were possible in a street fighter game.

I use the excuse that long stretches of play on the 360 pad make my thumb tired and I start getting very loose on inputs the longer I play.

I almost unlocked Gouken yesterday but I lost to Seth and ruined it.
