If I see anything, it'll probably be
Adventureland. I think
Earth is supposed to be a repackaged version of 'Planet Earth', so I would do better to kidnap Stewart and have him narrate the movie in my living room.
Gigantic, well, I'd rather wait for
500 Days of Summer.
How about you, what strikes your fancy for this April?
Posts
I'll be renting the new Crank.
The Soloists could be decent though.
I didn't see the first, but I really hope the only lip service they pay to the first one in terms of backstory resolution is
"I thought you died?"
"I thought so, too."
*87 minute action/sex sequence ensues*
And for the love of God, never use CG for street racing again.
Fast & Furious (I'm sorry)
Observe and Report
and mother fucking Crank 2 yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeahhhh
I'm dumb, so I'll probably go see Dragonball and Crank, and possibly Mutant Chronicles if one of my friends wants to.
You are.
Adventureland will be hilarious, but we didn't get it this week (hopefully next week).
Everything else looks rent-tastic.
And what the fuck? James Marsters and Chow Yun-Fat in a Dragonball movie? And I hadn't heard anything about this? Damn, I must be giving all things anime-esque a wide berth.
Bigger screen?
It's definitely a niche release.
I'm really looking forward to seeing Tokyo! too.
It opens in my art house theatre on the 10th.
https://twitter.com/Hooraydiation
Also, I will try to see Adventureland, F&F, and Observe and Report.
Apparently Crank 2 literally begins right where the first one left off.
It's highly likely I won't see anything, though.
But May is just around the corner now. MAY! Wolverine! Star Trek!... ok, apparently I could get Wolverine now if I really wanted to. But I don't. I'll support my foxy, marvelous overlords.
And I liked Street Fighter.
Though I did like the forehead moment.
yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaahhh
What? Patrick Stewart's voice is in the previews though, isn't it?
Can we get a blu-ray release with both voices? :P
I'd go see it in I-Max, but otherwise yea, we have Planet Earth on HDDVD already.
Wait, what?
This just got bumped from "renter" to at least two theater viewings for me. That sets the perfect tone.
What's funny is that after seeing it with my friends the first time we were sitting around laughing and going "oh man, wouldn't it be funny if..." and then they did it. Which may or may not be teh sign of a good movie, but it at least should be fun as hell.
Man, what a horrible line up, I can't decide which is worst. My money is on Seth Rogen, seriously, this new wave of stoner 'comedies' Just. Aren't. Funny. :x

Elsewise, I'm not seeing any of those things with the possible exception of Crank 2.

I wouldn't call them stoner comedies so much as comedies about sub-average men learning lessons they should have learned a long time ago, like how to be responsible and deal with break-ups.
https://twitter.com/Hooraydiation
Because if the female is the lead and has to put up with the guy until he learns these lessons, then it is a romantic comedy.
Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar
The best female in an Apatow comedy so far was Kristen Bell's character in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, and in the last quarter of the film she breaks up with boyfriend, gets rejected by the lead, loses her job, and gets herpes.
https://twitter.com/Hooraydiation
They definitely seemed to make her the bad guy when I Agree with her, the guy was a lazy dick and she tried to make him not be and he continued to be a lazy dick so she left him. She tried at least, more than he did and he realised too late.
For that shes relegated to some crappy tv show.
Rock Band DLC | GW:OttW - arrcd | WLD - Thortar
Yeah, my mistake.
Jason Segal has some issues with women.
https://twitter.com/Hooraydiation
Most of the "Apatow" films these days are only produced by him, they are written/directed/etc by others.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall was written by its lead, Jason Segel.
And Apatow had nothing to do with Observe & Report, which looks to be pretty far from a stoner film. According to Cinematical's review, this is a pretty unusual mainstream comedy.
But I do agree, Apatow should write a film with a female lead and/or one with a different comedic style.
EDIT: Hmm, did it really take me that long to write this post? Is it really 8 am in the morning? And where are my socks?
I heard from someone who saw an advanced screening that it was very very good.
from that review:
