Dead iPod Classic

My 80 gig iPod classic doesn't turn on. I left it last night in my bag and nothing out of the ordinary happened to it. When I plug it in it doesn't even show the charging screen, and does not boot or link up to my Macbook. Is there a way to resurrect my iPod so that I pull my stuff off of it, or is there just a way to fix it?

To make it clear my warranty ran out about a year ago.

could be that is needs a reset. switch it to hold, then swtich it off hold, then press and hold the menu and center buttons. If nothing happens after about 10 seconds, put it on the charger and let it sit for a couple hours, then try it again.

Otherwise, you may be looking at asking apple to fix it - and to do that they will wipe the data anyway.

I hope there was nothing vital?
