Has anyone tried out the Elven Legacy demo? I'm really fond of this kind of games.
I did, and then bought the game. Am maybe a third of the way through. If the phrase "turn-based strategy on a hexagonal grid with fantasy units" affects your pants, it is quite good. Gameplay is solid, AI is aggressive and decently smart in who it picks on, unit variety is decent so far. Oh, and units gain experience and abilities which carries over from level to level. Joy! It is not as polished as King's Bounty (from the same developer), but that's a pretty high bar.
Any word on whether or not Killing Floor is going to be good? I'm liking the concept: "Coop Survival Horror". I may just fucking buy it anyway. :P
There is this thread on it. Its made by the same guys who made Red Orchestra (tripwire), and I personally had some fun with it.

I wonder what the weekend deal is going to be. The last couple have been less than appealing. Part of me wants an awesome one this weekend, but then another part of me wants it to suck again. Only because I have finals next week.

Isn't Bioshock UE2.5?
I'm pretty sure Bio is UE3, makes sense seeing as UT2k4 doesn't look half as good as Bio...
I don't own it and I'm sure as heck not buying it. I just don't understand what's so fun about it. I played a few rounds in this free weekend thing and it's just dull.

You'll be able to say Sorry, I don't feel like it and then throw in your own witty retorts when people invite you to play, or even have the game opened to taunt all those zombie-killing losers who need one more person for their pubstomp!
Really, though, if you didn't enjoy what you tried, I can understand why you wouldn't buy it.
Never hurts to try the game on the occasional weekend to see whether it's any more to your taste, though.

Which mode did you play? I found normal mode on the campaign rather dull too because of the lack of difficulty. Versus and expert campaign are much more thrilling.
I just played through the campaign of l4d on normal and am on the fence about buying it for 30 Canadian fun-bucks. It was fun but it seems that it would wear thin fairly quick. Do the have plans on expanding the campaign? Or anything of that nature?
I played Left 4 Dead for the first time last night with the free trial and had a blast. It may be the most fun I've had coop since Diablo 2.
There were so many cool cinematic touches that unfolded in gameplay that it felt like a movie. For instance, there was a part where we were in a construction zone and someone triggered a zombie mob. We were up on a higher level of the building, when I slipped and fell to the ground and had to deal with the mob in my face. They're all sniping and yelling at me to get the hell out of there. I'm running and dodging and shooting while looking for a way back up, all the while getting jumped at from all sides. Finally, all the zombies are dead, and I'm still barely alive somehow. I look up and there was the ladder right in front of me the whole time. The whole thing unfolded organically through the gameplay, but had the cinematic feel of a scripted event or cutscene.
I feel like I personally survived the zombie apocalypse.
Also, since I'm a bit short on cash, one of my buddies surprised gifted it to me after we finished so we could keep playing after Friday. Friends don't let friends miss Steam sales. :^:

Heh, I did that too when it was 50% off. He was on the fence and I went "you WILL play this damnit" and gifted it to him.

The game only works as an online game, preferably also on Advanced or Expert, but being a beginner you'll probably want to work your way up to them. Treat it as you would a version of Team Fortress 2 which had bots. Sure you can play it that way technically, but it's just not any fun.
Best is to play with a Mic as well, communication is key (especially on the harder difficulties). I'd also recommend playing with friends, or at least guys you know won't be complete idiots who just run through the level and then cry about how useless their group is because he got himself smokered 2 miles up the road. It'd be worth signing up with Armadeadon and giving it a try with us.

I did it when it was full price because a friend of mine had just built his first gaming computer in years and years and had just gotten his first cable connection ever. I wanted someone to play with. I also gifted him Half Life when it was $.99.

I've had Left 4 Dead for months but hadn't actually played it until last night. Even then, I only played it in single player mode, but I was having a lot of fun. I might gift it to my fiancee this weekend; we've been needing a fun co-op FPS.

In the zombie apocalypse, much like in marriage, communication is key. :P

Also shoot the fat people before they get close and if someone with a hoodie jumps on your spouse, fire repeatedly in their direction until the UI informs you that you have saved them. Finally, remember to always take two friends along, otherwise you'll never get anywhere.

Isn't Bioshock UE2.5?
I'm pretty sure Bio is UE3, makes sense seeing as UT2k4 doesn't look half as good as Bio...
But my point was that UE3 is doing pretty well. I mean, if Japanese dudes make an RPG out of it, you're probably doing alright.
Erm...

You'll be able to say Sorry, I don't feel like it and then throw in your own witty retorts when people invite you to play, or even have the game opened to taunt all those zombie-killing losers who need one more person for their pubstomp!
Never hurts to try the game on the occasional weekend to see whether it's any more to your taste, though.
Which mode did you play? I found normal mode on the campaign rather dull too because of the lack of difficulty. Versus and expert campaign are much more thrilling.

I believe Cherrn can rest his case now.
I did it when it was full price because a friend of mine had just built his first gaming computer in years and years and had just gotten his first cable connection ever. I wanted someone to play with. I also gifted him Half Life when it was $.99.
If your wife starts getting upset, turn off your flashlight and back away slowly.
edit: What a fucking, awesome trailer.
Cool, then I don't have to buy it in a store. I hope Bionic Commando gets released on Steam too.
I really liked it, even at full price.
Wow the women are awfully bulgy in that game.
holy crap dan's lisp is hilarious
