How do I join the "Penny Arcade" Steam Group?
Being it by invite ONLY!!!
If you post your Steam ID someone can add you.
Although to be honest, we never actually use it for anything so I'm not sure there's any real point. We've got a separate group for Left 4 Dead (which we use all the time), and for TF2 we just jump on the servers.
I've always been wondering whether we should just get rid of Armadeadon and use the main PA group. More people will have reason to jump into the chat channel and we can get games together for all sorts of stuff (although it'd probably still be mainly Left 4 Dead).

Might as well make it public instead of invite only.

That leads to the problem of any idiot joining the group and causing trouble. We recently had to remove some guys from the Left 4 Dead group for just this reason.
In general it's just a case of trying to maintain a decent community that isn't full of the jerks that occupy 99.9% of the rest of the internet. If it was public, you may as well cut out the middle man and jump in with random people each time you play Left 4 Dead or some other game. Most other public groups are jam packed with jackasses.
@ Suds: Nice work dude. I've got guests coming over today but I should hopefully have something up for you tonight.

Multiple people on Steam can use the same display name and it is very easily changed. Therefore it is pretty much always better to post a link to your profile than just your display name.
Several other PA people write articles there and I'm always looking for new contributors if you have thoughts you want to share with people.
Suggestion: redirect www.steam-gamer.com to steam-gamer.com . Makes URLs consistent and gets rid of the ugly "www".
I may try and write something for the site at some point. Maybe if Stardock's "used digital games" thing gets enough attention to piss me off about it all over again.
RandomEngy on
Profile -> Signature Settings -> Hide signatures always. Then you don't have to read this worthless text anymore.

Further suggestion, use youtube to host videos rather than divx web player, cause I ain't installing it just to watch some video and I don't think anyone else will either.

Done.
I'd also like to know how it is you have your avatar showing in comments. Nobody else does and since I didn't build the comment code I don't know how this happened.

Yeah, I am using YouTube now. Those divx videos are quite old - before YouTube had HD.

Speaking of, soon I'll write up some sort of intro about myself, then dive into Warhammer. My playtime on Order side is almost complete to the point where I can give fair feedback on both sides.

As for the avatar, I'm guessing it is a Gravatar. You can associate your email address with a picture, then sites can automatically grab the image when you supply your email address. I'm assuming this site is coded to do so.
So I just got the email-form thing you get when you try to reset your password, but it wasn't me who tried to reset it. In fact I haven't logged on to Steam in about a week.
1) Should I be worried that someone is trying to steal my account?
2) Should I somehow contact Steam and tell them that it wasn't me?

You better change your e-mail and password to be safe.

change your email and password, but don't do it by clicking links from the email you received, it could be a phishing scam.

I've had that happen to me, just make sure you have a super awesome password.

Use a SENTENCE as a password.
eg. "thisismygodamnsteampassword"
The longer the harder to crack.
Doesn't apply to keyloggers of cos.

This is a bad idea.
Use random numbers, letters, and symbols, if allowed. Make sure you remember it, obviously, if all else write it down and keep it somewhere safe. I'm sure you can trust the people who come into your house to not break into your steam account, if all else fails and it's found.
A long string like 15DAAB301P8TE or something is always good.
Eventually you'll have that shit memorized, anyway.

It's a terrible fucking idea. Dictionary crackers will be all over that pw in seconds.
The only good passwords are random strings of characters. Nothing else.
I generally try to stay away from any pattern what so ever, especially for things that involve my money. However, I would be a liar if I said leet-speak has never been used.

Errr... I don't get it... is this site famous for something?
Yup, sure is awesome that no one has bothered to add Impulse, GamersGate, Good Old Games, EA Store, and any other Steam alternatives I may be missing.
Oh, that there aren't any other alternatives to Steam. Nice indeed.
For whatever reason, I thought it was saying Steam is an alternative to something, but I couldn't figure out what.
I like how Steam is the most viewed but only has 9 likes. Did that many people really click that link?
Anyway, that's a neat website and I've bookmarked it.

Video and Pictures.php both need a lot of work. They were written for my old site and I just dropped the code straight in without any cleanup.

Up with www! steam-gamer.com looks naked!
aspx.default.www.mysite.net/default.aspx .
But yeah, "www" is unnecessary crud that makes urls longer, uglier and harder to vocalize. It's a relic that should have been long since discarded.
Hi5.
Edit: or not.
