I had the Morrowind discs a while back, but for some reason couldn't get into the game and lost them in the move to my current place.
Now that I've really tasted Fallout 3 and Oblivion, I'm willing to give them another shot. I'm thinking some kind of roguish spear-wielding argonian. That could be hilarious.
Tell me, if I were to pick up Morrowind, what are the top 5 mods I should get?
Damn, this is tempting. I havent played Morrowind or Oblivion in a while, and sadly over the years have lost the disks. Gona think about this.
Is it safe to assume mods will work ok with these? I remember the numerours graphical mods Morrwind had that made it much better looking. I never really tried many with Oblivion however, so that would be a whole new treat. Granted alot of modders have probably moved to Fallout 3, so I wouldent expect as many new ones for these.
Looking at my steam account im a little suprise the amount ive bought on steam, however I can safely safe that every purchase was worth the money. Granted I do buy the majority of my games on sale, I think tf2 and zeno clash are the only ones that I paid full price for. This will most likely be another worth addition.

Just make sure you get the one that removes the fog from the game and enables distance viewing.
It is spectacular.

I own Oblivion on the 360 and was really into it for a while, until I learned about the enemy level scaling, and then my interest just dropped off. But I think I may enjoy it on the PC, since the controls will be better, and I know about the scaling going in...and $25 for both Oblivion and Morrowind is a very good deal.
Decisions.
Ahahaha. Dude, as long as you can run Oblivion, mods fix every single thing that is wrong with the game, and probably anything you can think of. If you're worried about game mechanics... don't.
Oh, and there's increased texture resolution, new monsters, quests, land masses... more everything. For free from the community.
Someone should make or resurrect an Elder Scrolls thread. I have a feeling the Steam release will rekindle some interest, and I don't want to be all asking about "good mods to get" here.

Would the graphical extender work if running it from steam? It's not a standard plugin.
No idea. Part of the reason I'm holding off on buying it from Steam.
Hmmm... I kinda assumed it would, but maybe not?
That would just be stupid on Valve and Bethesda's parts. If you can't run mods (graphical or otherwise) in these games... what's the point?

As long as it doesn't modify the executable I think it's OK. If anything actually does give you a new .exe that replaces Steam's, then it will not work. Replacing textures and files is fair game though.

MGE is pretty invasive and I think very well might alter the exe. And the standard Unofficial Patches that you need for various mods. And the Script Extenders.

Well like I said, it's not a standard plugin. Everything else should work fine, because you manage them from inside the game - this one you don't. It's a separate .exe you run. It depends on how they made the mod, which steam has no real control over.
edit:: someone who's picking it up on steam should test it out though. It's well worth it to try. The far landscape is easily one of my favorite changes.

I'll be giving it a shot tonight, though someone will probably beat me to it.
I mean, $25 for both these games plus all the DLC... I don't think I can say no.

Why is Ghostbusters only $30 for the PC? I thought this was going for $60 for the 360 and PS3. Did they spit on it or something?
The PC version doesn't have multiplayer. Usually PC games retail for about $50 IIRC, so it's about a $20 reduction.
Also (and this is a guess on my part), possibly a lower pricepoint for a smaller audience.
Because no one plays PC games, m i rite???
Oh come on - you know what he means. PC sales tend to be lower for multi-platform titles, and this is hardly a AAA draw for PC gamers - probably needs all the sales help it can get. Plus, y'know - it's a digital download. In theory lends itself to release-day discounts, even if rarely in practice.
Personally Ghostbusters looks like a game I would prefer on consoles.
But the Oblivion deal is so good that I kind of wish that I didn't already own them.
When are they going to get the Sims 3 all up in here?
I'm thinking probably never. The Sims is EA's baby, and they've got their own DD service. Whilst it's true that EA have released some games on Steam, with a major seller like this (and it's hard to think of bigger titles for EA than The Sims 3) they're probably going to want to push their own service for DD.
I'm tempted to get that Oblivion deluxe pack, but no Shivering Isles anywhere on Steam? Or is that something I'd have to buy separately?

I got all excited when I saw Riddick on Steam, but it's NA only right now. :x
If there was some way for me to buy just the Dark Athena content, I would gladly throw Steam my money. But since I have to buy the entire Riddick game all over again just for two hours or so of new content, well, fuck that. I'll wait a year or two until I can get it on the cheap.
I like Riddick, but I don't like Riddick enough to warrant spending $60 just because the marketing man behind the game is a fucking jackass.

Both Shivering Isles and the Knights of the Nine expansions are already included with the Oblivion GOTY edition.
The Deluxe GOTY version on Steam additionally includes the rest of the DLC:
Fighter's Stronghold Expansion
Live the life of a noble warrior in this expansive castle with private quarters, grand dining hall, and a wine cellar.
Spell Tome Treasures
Get these books and find low and high-level spells, as well as new powerful spells with multiple effects added.
Vile Lair
An underwater multilevel hideout for evil players to find refuge, providing your character with safe haven.
Mehrune's Razor
Conquer one of the deepest and most challenging dungeons in all of Cyrodiil to claim this fearsome weapon.
The Thieves Den
Uncover a famous pirate's lost ship and claim it for your own. Designed for stealth-based characters.
Wizard's Tower
In the frozen mountains of Cyrodiil stands Frostcrag Spire, a tower of wonders for your magic-oriented character.
Orrery
Harness the power of the stars. Rebuild the Orrery to unlock the secrets of this Mages Guild Inner Sanctum.
Horse Armor Pack
Tamriel is a dangerous place. Protect your horse from danger with this beautiful handcrafted armor.
The only time I've played oblivion was on the 360, and that was on release. Maybe now is the time to run through it again with a boat-load of mods *rubs chin*

Screw you Atari.
I think the initial announcement of Atari games on Steam even said that their games would become available worldwider "soon". Bunch of bullshit.

For $25 you can get all of that PLUS Morrowind and it's two expansions. Now that is a fucking excellent purchase.
