I think what he means is "are those people only banned from SE", which they're not. I don't know why we have a seperate thread, we just always have. There was never a good reason to change it.
Makes sense to me. SE++ has a high percentage of forumers that post there exclusively, for the most part. What better place to find out that your fellow forumer was banned than in the only forum you post in anyways?
Because more people should be actively involved in the forum as a whole, and the Monkey Den is the repository of forum-wide information, such as bannings?
If anyone really cares we can move the thread to the monkey den. It's totally unimportant and I don't see the need to change it just for the sake of it, but meh.

I think it should stay where it is - SE++ has its own set of rules, and the jailings and bannings that take place on other parts of the forum (thread assassination) would be confusingly inconsistent next to the SE jailings.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing a jailing thread in each subforum. A separate ban thread would be good too, but I'd still want to keep the general one in the MD and figure there's no need to create unnecessary work. But being able to satisfy the curiosity of why somebody got jailed without having to PM them couldn't be a bad thing, could it?

Actually, if you called someone a fucking retard who shouldn't breed without context or in response to an honest to God question or in an attempt to assasinate a thread, I would ban your ass.
Hopefully not in SE you wouldn't.

Oh, oh, I know why SE++ has a separate ban/jailing thread: It's an artifact leftover from back when the on-topic and chat sections of the forum were separate, and being banned from one didn't mean you were banned from the other.
I wouldn't object to separate jail threads for each forum. Actually, that might be a good idea, if only to give people an idea of what flies in each individual sub-forum. Probably want to keep the master ban list in the Monkey Den, though.

The only problem I have with that is lots of sticky threads makes the forum look cluttered and ugly, and that'd just add mone ore to the list.
But that is a very minor quibble.

After Christmas there will only be 2 announcements and 2 stickies on G&T. I'm sure 5 stickies aren't that many.
I don't know- having one jail and ban thread for the entire forum complex would make it easier to see why you were jailed/banned if you post in more than one area of the forum on occasion. And see how long you're supposed to be behind bars.
Not that people should regularly be doing jailable things in many threads... and they should hopefully have an idea of why they might have been jailed. But sometimes people find themselves jailed with little idea why. Going to the jail threads of several forums could be hard.

Isn't it in the PM? And their profile?
Not to my recollection. The PM just says "You were jailed", basically, and the profile doesn't say anything about it.

Lol, you scared the shit out of me.
You were just jailed!
This means you were doing something you shouldn't be doing, and now you have to face the penalties for it.
While jailed, your posting at this forum will be somewhat restricted.
Repeated bad behavior will result in being banned, so I strongly encourage you to re-evaluate your attitude towards this forum.

heh no problem
just took me by surprise
and I see that you guys were talking about who, I just misread it.
Still, it would be nice to have a why included in it. I know I've been jailed over simple misunderstandings before that were cleared up right away, but it took me a good while to figure out exactly what the reason for the jailing was.

I have no idea what you could be talking about. ;-)
Yeah, the "why" would be the point of the forum thread. Unfortunately, we can't code it into the jail message until the next iteration of the forums.

Unfortunately, that wasn't the first, nor last, time.
If the mods would be consistent in providing a link to the reason in the jailing threads, that would be fine. But I think having a separate jail thread for every single forum would be a huge pain in the ass. One in the Monkey Den, one in SE++ and maybe one in G&T would be more than enough.
I'm pretty sure I've heard them mentioned occasionally for most of the 3 years I've been here. Is there an ETA on when they're going to be put into place?
We should just have a Fuck You forum. When people get banned, they can post there and get the stupid out of their system. Then, when they've demonstrated that their anger level is below 9000, they can be let back into the normal subforums.
Actually, that'd be cool - like a real jail. A jailed forum for jailed people where they can only talk to each other and can't come out to play.

That requires heavy permissions editing each time though. It's an even bigger pain in the ass than banning someone, by a wide margin.

Uh, and orikae hasn't quit. That's a misunderstanding I'm afraid.
Hey, I know this is from the beginning of the thread but I figure it merits an explanation.
About a month and a half ago I was on the verge of quitting G&T because there just wasn't anything worth discussing and the tone of the discussions was increasingly volatile. I was also frustrated with certain portions of the rest of the mod staff; apathy regarding rule changes and a lack of communication made doing my job particularly shit.
So I PM'd Whippy, asking to be taken out of the G&T mods. However, he was gone from the internet for a while, so he didn't get it immediately. In that time, I started reading G&T again, posted a couple threads.
He came back and asked me if I still wanted to quit, to which I said no. I participated for about four days (made the Vampyre Story thread, among others) and then got hit with a massive chunk of school, it being the end of the semester. I'm almost through it, but I won't be done until next week.
So! I still read G&T & moderate, I just don't post that much because nothing really excites me about the new consoles, and often when I go into a thread my opinion's already been represented by someone else.

There was a big thread about that about the same time the chat threads went the way of the doodoo. The general consensus was "eh, who cares?"
