I don't really know what to say about that, Valkyria. I A ranked her first mission (3 turns) and A ranked the second (3 turns).
S rank in Japan = A rank in NA. So either we didn't get the same pack or I didn't beat it the "right" way. I wonder if the Sega blog has any info on this...
Edit: Yeppo, according to them there's 4 missions.
* Four new missions, playing as the Empire
* New unlockable weapon in the main Gallian campaign
* Fan-freaking-tastic Voice acting (Serious props to the actors for Selvaria, Johann, and Otto)
* Bonus unlockable mission made of pure win
Source. I'll perhaps do a little experimenting tomorrow, but it's likely I'll just wait for some crazy GameFAQs user to explain it to me.
Or, you know, Sega hates us and is purposely trying to ruin the game by lying.
Its like, I try to bunny hop, but there is no jump button. And I can only shoot once every time I move, WTF. This is, bar none, the WORST third person shooter I've ever played.
Get less than an A Rank on the first one and it'll open up the third. A Rank all three of them to unlock the last one.
So now that I check my Extras menu, there's a list under Selvaria's campaign...
Assault on Ghirlandio A03
Silencing the Artillery ---
Rout of the Gallian Forces A03
And the Sega Blog mentions a bonus chapter that'll blow our socks off. So You have to get a B rank on "Assault on Ghirlandio" or worse, which will then open up "Silencing the Artillery."
Now, get an A rank on "Silencing the Artillery". Then go back and A-rank Assault on Ghirlandio. Now you've opened up "Rout of the Gallian Forces." A-rank the third mission, and you should unlock the bonus one.
Unconfirmed... I'll try it out and check back with yallz.

So, speaking of Sega and SRPGs, anybody been keeping up with Shining Force Feather? A lot of people were initially weary of the lack of a grid system, but VC also lacked a grid.
*wary. No, never heard of it tbh. But then you'd be hard-pressed to find someone who'd heard of VC, so if that's anything to go by it'll be awesome.
Anyway, I just C-ranked Selvaria's first mission - no difference in the next mission... I'll go for a B ranking and see if that changes anything.
How many turns for a C-Rank? I was fooling around with it this evening, but not enough to put a whole game in after playing through the Edy mission.
Ummm I think it was 6, which would make an A a 4. But I dunno, that may require testing. Anyway I have come to believe that it has nothing to do with rank. I'll explain after I confirm it - but for the moment, Colbert Report is on.
Also, Yayyyyyyyy Doc put his title back! A-dorable.

Okay, I got the 2nd mission. Here's the dilly, yo...
There are 3 regular missions in Selvaria's pack.
Assault on Ghirlandio, the first mission. If you take Sel and Johann to the main enemy base and capture it, your next mission will be...
Rout of the Gallian Forces, which is considered the third mission.
In order to access the 2nd mission (which is only a strategic variation on 'Rout of the Gallian Forces', with artillery thrown in), you must destroy General Damon's tank in the first mission. The reason there was confusion about getting a lower-than-A rank to access the 2nd mission is that you cannot get an A-rank and destroy Damon's tank - it doesn't seem to be possible. So you cannot access the 2nd mission with an A rank - but only because it's impossible to destroy Damon's tank and achieve the rank. Or at least I haven't tried and that's what I've heard.
Here's what you do to access Silencing the Artillery:
In the first mission, Selvaria and Johann are cut off from the rest of the Imps and must proceed down the eastern side of Ghirlandio. With Sel clearing the way and Johann bombing blockades, it's possible to get her to the final base in 3 turns.
On the west side of Ghirlandio, in the southwest corner (lower-left corner), is Damon's tank. It is facing north along the path you must take to reach it, and in front of it is a gatling turret. I rolled past him with the Imp tank and put a round into his radiator.
Once his tank is destroyed he'll be all pissy (when is he not pissy?) and you're free to finish the mission by letting Selvaria capture the central base.
Silencing the Artillery, at first blush, looks identical to Rout of the Gallian Forces. It's the same map, but you quickly notice troop positions are different. Most importantly, there is now an artillery barrage set to destroy the citadel. Seems Damon is so pissed off he wants to bring the whole place down. Anyway...
I haven't beaten Silencing the Artillery yet, as it's nearly 5am and I need sleep to look my prettiest. But the rout I discovered for accessing it was true, so I believe that A-ranking it will somehow grant access to the bonus chapter of Selvaria's content.
More at 11!
By which I mean, whenever I or one of you figure it out.

So my first playthrough was in japanese. My second was in english, and I'm playing in english for my 3rd playthrough. I think, over all, I like the english version better. Welkins voice reminds me of 1970s anime voices. Like the voice of the leader for Voltron.

Okay, it sounds like I made sense of that stupid walkthrough for Behind her Blue Flames:
First mission branches out in two ways. You simply have to beat it to advance onto mopping up the Gallians. However... Damon's tank is in the southwest corner of the map. You have to take him down with your normal troops. You do this by taking the long route around, taking care of one gatling turret along the way. This drops you right behind his grill. Once you destroy his tank, you'll then qualify to advance onto the Artillery mission instead.
Took down the tank. Man, the artillery mission's tricky. They dump Musaad, a tank, and two gatling turrets right in front of your poor tank right off the bat. Best way to kill Musaad in this is to position your tank in a way where the crossfire from the Gallian tank will take him down. You might have to knock Musaad around a little first.
Sony sent me a new PS3. Now I have to wait two hours to restore data from February.

Okay, so we figured out how to get that 3rd mission, but the pack's supposed to have 4 missions, not 3, AND there's supposed to be a bonus unlockable mission
So we're the other two?
Edit: I think I know how to obtain the fourth mission
On the "normal" second mission (the one you get for
not killing off General Douche and just running to the end
) if you
kill General Douche's tank he says to the remaining soldiers to "stay and defend Ghirlandio, or else we'll be overrun". I assume what you have to do is kill off all of the remaining enemy team, and NOT end the mission by running into the end zone
God damn the desert level. Damn it straight to hell.
First time I play through it
I totally space the fact that there are 2 snipers on that hill, and get 2 people dropped, so I just restart. Second time through I make it to the sandstorm, run Largo up, miss the tank twice, advance one more time.. and whoops, I wasn't keeping an eye on his ammo. Get him and Jane dropped by the tank, and now I get to try it all over again.
Argh on that sandstorm. I thought it was going to have a much bigger effect than it actually did.

It could very well mean that the 4th mission is the secret one. I duno. I'm just gonna finish the third one and see what happens.

Finally got my hands on the DLC. Haven't tried Hard EX, and still getting a feel around for Sel's missions
However...
Edy's Mission didn't seem so problematic, until "Oh hey, gotta get Edy to the end of the map, but still don't give up that base" business. That doesn't seem so hard either, but getting all that done in one turn? I just don't see that happening (unless that obstacle wall towards the destination is breakable).

It's one of those missions, like a couple of others (Chapters 7/16 comes to mind) wherein you have to have complete knowledge of exactly what happens in the mission in order to A-Rank it

I almost A-ranked it on my first try...
Except I had Lynn halfway across the map instead of Edy. WHOOPS.
Just got my A on the 2nd Selvaria mission - it says it unlocked a bonus chapter, that can be accessed from the Extras menu. Woooo! Pardon me, I'm gonna' get my flame on...

Oh, so the blog post is serious. Well, damn. That incomprehensible walkthrough seemed to regard the bonus mission as the 4th one.
So I tried Skirmish 1 on Expert mode. Holy balls do you get bent over a table and made someone's bitch in that one! Three mortar bombardments in the same area! Two gatling guns to the lower right! You have to take ALL the points! Two tanks coming down the hill. Surrounded on all sides!
I think I need to equip a mortar on one of my two lancers. And start a Shocktrooper off on the upper left. This is madness.
The mortars follow a pattern, so they're really not as big a problem as you can think. And I had Largo weather taking hits from all 3, so lancers are okay if they're caught in them.
The objectives are pretty clearly laid out for you, I think. Move down to the bottom base to get a safer position, clear out the tanks as they come, flaming the snipers from the left base, when the 3 tanks are dead, run a scout out around, grenade the first destroyable barriers and run to capture the second base, brute force the last base, and take out Oswald the Alloy behind the windmill. His gun is crap, sadly. Highly damaging crap, but inaccurate, short-ranged crap.
I'm having a really hard time with the first Selvaria mission, because all the Imperial units you get are terrible.
