I totally get the sense that the little clip of

I think you're confusing guys with Homer. I'm sure he wouldn't mind following around Selvaria, taking punishment along the way.

Anywho, finished Edy's mission with the almighty A-rank.
The main trick, in my opinion, is to just have Edy halfway across the map during your third turn. Then, it only takes her 3-4 CPs to get to the destination on your fourth.

Funny ending and nice to see some further character development out of the squaddies involved. Edy does get quite an interesting reverb when she's singing.

    Your loss.

    DLC and Main Story:
FYI, Edy sings the same song that Rosie does at Isara's funeral. And she only sings the first two lines. The rest of the ending is everyone almost dying from hearing her.

Almost done with my new playthrough, then I'll move onto the DLC.

Man, I think the true measure of this game is how you can take a full hour on one battle, meticulously planning it out, and not even realize it. And then, immediately after, you'll go and play a skirmish. This is the only RPG where battles don't feel like a chore, they feel compelling.

Has anyone made progress on finding the fourth mission yet?

Edit: Oh, silly me, I have unlocked it.
Get an A in every mission, I think. I did, and it was unlocked. The trick is that you actually have to access it from the menu under "Behind Her Blue Flame", unlike the other ones. If that makes sense.

    WRRRRYYYY???!!!!

    Error while downloading 80710723.

I hate you to death. Why can't you be non retarded?

I've had this problem crop up before and I'm completely stumped. I've already gone in and tried manually setting the DNS 1 port to the recommended 208.67.222.222 with my wireless, completely turned off my firewalls, tried manually opening ports TCP 3478-3479-3658 and UDP 80-443-5223. and I'm still getting this cockamamine error message. I also completely turned off all my computers, PS3, and my Realtek router and turned them back on. I get about 15% downloads and STILL I get this error. The rest of my internet works fine, it's only with the playstation store.

Can I bypass this or something by downloading the files to a USB drive or something through the Playstation store on my home computer? This is really starting to cheese my biscuits.

Watched Episode 3 Raw (MAJOR PLOT SPOILERS):
Upon arrival, Eleanor is performing enlistment roll call. "Welkin Gunther." Cue gasps of recognition followed by a short chat (special privelige) between Eleanor and Welkin; with Eleanor automatically assigning him w/ his sister and his tank.

Anime Alicia is-not-so-happy to be automatically assigned to Welkin.

Extended Faldio meeting scene (and not in Eleanor's office this time).

Meet the first members of Squad 7! Also, Largo and Rosie already express their dislike in the tank hangar where Welkin introduces himself to his Squad. Damn, I need translations to figure out Welkin's sudden statement that puts the "Wha!?" faces on his squad.

Few members (Rosie and Largo included) discuss their new commander and his tank and his Darsen sister.

"Here is the situation. Imperial forces have taken the bridge. We're ordered to make an attempt at retaking the bridge." (BS as I don't know Japanese, but it's not that far off). First militia mission. Retake the bridge.

"Like a thundering herd, we feel a lot like cattle..." (marching song from Mulan). Surprise, surprise... Welkin actually chooses to walk alongside Alicia instead of riding the tank!

Alicia and Welkin discuss the situation. Cue Rosie VS Isara! A new challenger arrives! Bets are made!

"Here's the plan. I'll make like a submarine with the Edelweiss, cross the river with it, and establish the beachhead. No problem."

"All ahead full! Take her to sea, Mr. Murdock!" (Titanic).

"Sir, there's breaches in the hull." "As long as the engine isn't flooded, we're fine. Hit the boost!"

Aww... Welkin didn't run over the Imps! And didn't fire the Flare! (But an enemy tank does almost as good... I guess...) And... WTF!? Dramatic pose!? Imp leader has a two cannon heavy tank and looses to Dramatic Pose!? Otherwise, THAT'S NOT A TANK. THAT'S A SPEEDRACER IN ARMOR. Why can't the game tank be that awesome w/ Isara in the driver's seat!?

DAMN YOU!!! WHERE'S THE BRIDGE LIFT!? NOOOO!!!

    And next EP:
Alicia mayhem! Walks in on a naked Faldio, seems to want to know more about Welkin through Faldio? Misunderstanding between Welkin and Alicia (he gets B*tch slapped also)? Also, could Alicia actually have a small infatuation with Faldio!? *gasp!* Cue next twisted pairing! AliciaXFaldio! Curse you Japan! (Then again, we all know that if there was a some bit of infatuation, Welkin proves to be a better man (as he's all-natural...).)

And also, guess who we meet as well! It is General Fatass!

Priceless Alicia expression. "Creepy touch! I prefer Welkin's!" (Ok, bad joke. Make up your own.)

Okay, I put in a lot of time tonight finishing off the Behind Her Blue Flame missions:

    The Artillery one:
This was tough, but when I finally put together a strategy, I managed to finish it in 2 turns.

My first thought was to blow through the tank and gatling guns in the front, then send Johann through the gate to get to Selvaria. This sort of worked (with the help of the kill-foot-soldiers-with-enemy-tank-interception-fire trick), but it took a little too long, and by the 2nd Gallian phase, I'd be swamped with lancers/shocktroopers at my base.

On my next attempt, I sent Johann around the left side and into the trench. The problem then became how to get rid of the shocktrooper crouching near Selvaria. I tried bombing him with the tank, but that left the base wide open. Then I realized that for the same amount of CP, I could just snipe him 3 times, and leave the tank in the defensive position. Huzzah!

The key to finishing by the 2nd turn is to get to Selvaria and have her move once or twice during the first phase. Any time I got to her in the 2nd phase, or on the last turn of the 1st phase, I'd end up just short of the capture point. The other key is to use the defense up order, so the gatling guns and tank near the end don't kill Selvaria. Running around Damon's tank and blowing it up (again) is so satisfying.

    The 4th mission:
This was pretty cool! I was half-expecting to see more named Gallian units as part of the enemy force. I wonder why Musaad got singled out.

I deployed my troops kind of backwards, with my sniper, lancer and engineer facing the stairs, but it didn't end up hurting me too much.

Using Selvaria was pretty much like God Mode, though when I was meticulously lining up the 3 guys at the first Gallian base, I took a bit of damage. I think that I stuck exclusively to the super beam attack, since the huge aiming circle for the gatling laser scared me off.

I ended up with a B ranking (4 turns), but luckily I had a save near the end of the 1st phase.

This time, I sent my lancer down the stairs early on, so he'd have time to get over to the tank on the other side. I also was able to take out the scout that was hiding in the upper right part of the map, before he made a run for my base. I don't think that I got anything special for getting an A ranking, but it's nice to have :)

Good stuff! Now I'm going back to my 3rd playthrough. Coby is going to be the first to try out the new toy, since I still need to unlock his hidden potential. After that, it'll go to either Lynn or Hannes.

The Leaving Bruhl-Lion's Paw scene near the Windmills. It was so well done in the game, but it was very rushed in the anime, completely ruining the mood. Also, why the hell is Suzie there!?

And when the stuff runs out after being out so long on the battlefield, then the natural one wins.

    Ok, really bad joke.

The Faldio/Alicia infatuation moment could function as additional plot to what would normally be a linear game-into-anime storyline; adding some additional character interaction to make it more entertaining.

Also, yeah Jann is fucking hilarious. I'm a bit ashamed to say I've never paid him much attention before - I know everyone else adored him, but it took hearing him in Edy's mission and saying to myself "is that John DiMaggio?" and subsequently laughing my ass off to come onboard.

    Oh man, that's cold. :(

So, between the Edy and Selvaria DLC, which one is better, and why?
Selvaria DLC is more stuff (Apparently it's supposed to be four missions, but people who've beaten it got two...we're working off the assumption you have to A-Rank both battles for the extra missions, however), however the first Selvaria mission's not great (it's not a bad one, and her weapon is fuckawesome, but the mission is not very...good), haven't done the second (you can't save in between, so you either beat both in one shot or save at the beginning of the next battle if you want to stop), Selvaria's DLC seems like it fits story canon (it's the events of the assault on Ghirlandio); in comparison the Edy mission is only one mission, but imo it's really really really well-designed, it apparently has four different endings based on the rank you get for completing it, it's a brilliant amount of fanservice that deals with some fave Squad 7 characters, and it's very unique- it really is unlike the 'main' missions. I really really dug it, it was very funny and felt like one of Ellet's side missions
So basically, it comes down to- did you like the reports more or the main battles more? Because that's the real difference
Oh also Edy's mission is not story canon (they're both not, they say that when you go to download the DLC itself, but I'd consider Selvaria's missions to be VC canon)

That doesn't even make any sense considering nothing in either campaign contradicts anything in the main game. The Edie mission is a random battle after
    Isara dies
and Silvera's campaign is the opening invasion of Gallia. I'm betting what you read was for marketing purposes.

That would mean Freesia too. In fact, a lot of the girls seem to like Welkin a bit.

Are you talking about under the "likes" list when you select them? I'm pretty sure that's mostly platonic, as the real people that "like" the others tend to get potentials based on it. Even some of the platonic liking gets its own potentials.

    Rosie, you're like, the man.

Just got this game, played to the first stage that I deploy a proper squad.

I am terrified that one of my troops might actually DIE, for reals. The just all look like kids. (who, when i play, get shot in the face alot!)

    I'm liking it alot though.

Did I miss an unlockable weapon in
the first Kloden Woods map? I'm curious, cause I think I just realized that there may have been a named guy in the base I completely avoided. Rather than advance with my tank, I just took a strike team around on the animal trail. If I did, was it decent, or did I not miss out on anything?

I don't know if anything you get is really worth it. Really, Gallia's upgraded guns are pretty fantastic.

So now my "Extras" menu is just a bunch of A's. I think that there were only four Selvaria missions - the fourth was clearly the bonus mission. Does anyone know how to unlock that lance and rifle that were in the DLC videos though?

The L... well, I'll spoiler this.
The Lance is only available to Selvaria in her bonus mission - it doesn't become available in the core game.

Selvaria's kickass machinegun / rifle (Ruhm or whatever it's called) is available to equip to your super-special-favoritest Shock Trooper after having completed 1-2 or 1-3 in Selvaria's campaign. If you have all As, you have it available in your barracks.

I think Shivahn meant the Imperial AT Lance (w/ better accuracy) and the AT Sniper Rifle.

My guess is that they'll be unlocked via Extreme Modo?
