I just learned a few minutes ago that Blasters got Psionic Blast/Psionic Melee or whatever they're called--apparently I didn't notice. How well do they work out?
Might be what I need to get me a 50 heroside
AFAIK Psionic is good single target damage with a damage type most stuff won't resist. The stuff that DOES resist it tend to have huge resistance though. Psionic Manipulation is a very good secondary that even has a mini-nuke in Psychic Scream.
It's not as bad heroside, but Psi damage on villains is painful. When you start fighting Tarantula Mistresses, Widows, Forts, etc you learn to skip Arachnos missions.
i skip arachnos missions whether or not my character uses psi. laggy maps + a range of nasty effects and resistances... no thanks
sorry to those dudes I was running the patron arc with, my internet decided it would be fun to cut out on me without any warning.
i heard some rumblings about an ITF tonight. I'd totally be up for that, but you have to do the midnighter arc with each character you wanna get to cimemora, right?
Yup. Always a good idea to do that as soon as you hit 35, so you don't have the situation of "Let's do an ITF", "Yay, now just hold off for an hour or two while I arc, k".
Oh shit, all of this talk about Psionic powers reminded me of something.
about a week ago I was teaming with you guys with BBED and we were just lookin for shit to do. Someone had an Arachnos Newspaper mission and I was "sweet! let's do that!"
Everyone else just kind of went "..." on me, and I was confused because I didn't see why they *couldn't* like arachnos.
He split into 3 gang leaders, fuck you normal villains making one group. Also, whats with all these bios starting off with one capital letter and never see another capital out of 200 characters.
Here's the build Silencer.

Perhaps we need to put "WE PLAY ON VIRTUE" in bigger letters.
I honestly wonder why they still have all the other servers up. Everyone's on Virtue and Freedom. I know there's a Euro-friendly server and a French-friendly server (which are different servers because the French are mostly French-Canadians there). Consolidate the instances. Sell the hardware. Beef up the hardware/switches on the remaining servers to take the extra load with the money you're getting from not having to run/maintain dead instances. I realize the servers are a sunk cost, but I also know that overhead can eat you alive on maintaining unused equipment. I really don't think they're going to see a mass influx of new players.
AFAIK Psionic is good single target damage with a damage type most stuff won't resist. The stuff that DOES resist it tend to have huge resistance though. Psionic Manipulation is a very good secondary that even has a mini-nuke in Psychic Scream.
Psi stuff was ok when it was just defenders and controllers, because you didn't notice that you were doing crap damage and you weren't expecting otherwise. The defending/controlling powers of the sets were still worth something, even when fighting something with psi resistance (I was gonna say heavy resistance, but it's all heavy if they resist at all). Besides, you aren't really there to do damage... you're there to help defend or control.
However, when you're a blaster, you really are there to do damage. That's it. That's your whole job. As soon as you go up against a robot, you're half as useful as you were before if that's your primary.
Psi Manipulation is a great secondary, especially if you're fire and you go up against a demon. It's a good trump card. And if you're up against a psi-resistant enemy, well... you always have your primary.
- There will be thousands of characters with name conflicts, and there's no solution to make everyone happy.
- As a PR move, dropping servers is a sign of imminent death if it's not a "we just launched and overestimated" thing. CoX only has 11 servers now, dropping 5 would make everyone who hears about it go "well, I guess that game's over now, time to move to Champions".
Additionally, Virtue and Freedom are too crowded as it is. We don't need more servers being poured in.
Also, some people don't want to be on a super populated server. Strange I know but they do exist, I mean someone has to play on Pinnacle.

I rolled else where before coming to Virtue and counting up player searches would bring up 50-100 people during prime time on villain side. They are dead. It really wouldn't hurt to merge a few servers (aside from name changes).

Player searches aren't necessarily the best way to accurately determine the number of people playing on a server. Especially given that the /hide command allows any number of people to keep themselves from being seen by searches. Given the previous propensity for others to send influence farming spam via tells, I know more than a few folks who keep their names invisible to general searches.

True, but if you compare those searches to searches on Virtue, which should have people hidden as well, it is abysmally low on said server.
I forget, are there hoops I need to jump through to get some of the vet rewards? I know I have the 12 month, which is supposed to grant me access to the 4 prestige sprint powers and such, but they're not in my inherent powers.

have to go to your badges tab, 'veteran', and then click the little thing in your badges list to claim the reward

And you have to do that for each character you want them on.

Blue side sucks and if you enjoy it more than red you have horrible taste. It is bad. It is fucking bad. It is awful and I can't believe anyone plays it. Just had to get that off my chest.
They're pretty much the same Tube. One is more grim dark than the other, but that's about it.
Not even nearly. Redside doesn't have you doing 7 missions for someone before you get their cell. Redside doesn't have a retarded travel system. Redside lets you buy a jetpack without going to dark fucking astoria. Redside lets you port anywhere from oroboros. Redside lets you buy enhancements without doing a favour for the store owner. Heroes was designed by fucking idiots and I can't believe after all this time they haven't fixed it.
While not all of Tube's comments are 100% accurate, he is overall correct. Also, with the exception of the Tier 2 contacts in the Cap, you don't spend your pre-travel power time in CoV running between a half a dozen zones to go talk to people so you can clear out a warehouse of Skulls so you can talk to a third person and only than can you go and talk to the contact. Who still won't give you their damn cell number.
Honestly new Hero players have no idea how good they have it with the Green line now going to Founders and Skyway. I wanted to murder who ever wrote Crimson and Indigo's arcs the first time I did them. Please, I want to travel to and from the only fricken zone that doesn't have a tram line a dozen times to do your stupid story arc.

Tube, why must you say such hurtful things

But no, he's technically right. There are so fucking many Quality Of Life issues that Villains managed to not only address (which was big shit during the Cryptic Years.) but then fix, that during the rare times that I'm playing a new/low level villain I want to skip through the isles from joy(Suddenly want to see that in Champions.)
But what Rob said is also true Tube, and I think some perspective might be needed since, correct me if I'm wrong, you haven't been dealing with the city as long.
Forget the fact that there used to be no radio missions with all of their benefits and bank missions with their variety and jetpack rewards, there used to be a total of two ways to get to Kings Row and one of them was the hollows.
Which has actually been revamped to what I will be brazen enough to say that it's up to "non suck" status.
The Sewer Farm, while I believe it's been around ever since it was added, has gotten way more useful thanks to all of the random changes Team XP has gotten.
Generally speaking, I've always felt the two sides are different enough to call them two games, which may be why Cryptic sold them separately. But that doesn't mean Blue Side can't be fun.
But the fact they haven't fixed all this shit yet is insanity. If that was i15, I'd be pleased as punch.

There's not much need to, though. With the new content they've added since launch, you can do stuff on heroside that matches the quality of what's on villainside, keeping in mind that RWZ and Cimerora is blueside as much as redside (thematically, it's probably even more blue with vague handwaving to get villains to come along).
I will agree that the pre I3 content does need to be overhauled with less running around and repetitive missions, but there's no real reason for people to do much of the pre I3 content.

ok folks let's clear something up here.
The fact that the shit sandwich you are being fed is advertised as "no longer containing broken glass!" does not, in fact, remedy the fact that you are eating a shit sandwich.
While I appreciate newspaper and radio missions, they quickly lose their luster. I can only click so many macguffins before I want to do something entertaining, like defend a lab from clockwork, or something, without having to run allllll the way across two zones with no travel power because the COP won't give her number to the REGISTERED HERO.
I wonder how much work it would be to just change all contacts to give their phone number out after the first or second mission. They should have done that a long time ago. Its crazy that you can do an entire arc before they give their number, like you even need it then.
They actually already changed them, you get their number after filling up their first bar. It used to be you had to fill up either their second or all the way to get their number.
For new contacts, that means first or second mission. For the old contacts with 40 repetitive missions, that can still be a while.
there's no real reason for people to do much of the pre I3 content.
Scooter managed to shorten what I was trying to say far better than I could. Yes there are tons of asinine, annoying, aggravating, other negative a-words, parts to being a hero that are completely removed/fixed if you decide to look at grey all day.
But you hardly need to deal with it anymore. You can get to level 8 in one sewer farm. Train in Kings Row, then get a radio and do one run for a jetpack. Once you have that, whatever annoying shit is still left in The Hollows, can just be flown over.
If you get a big team together for whuppin Frostfire, you should hit 14 and your travel easy as shit. By then, you can go Steel, do the University intro arc, join the midnighters club, do another safeguard...
Granted, this stuff isn't exactlly new and it's boresville if you don't have a good team to play through, but that can apply itself to anywhere in the game ever.
Unless you're a Mastermind, then the game is practically 1P.

Yeah, I've seen people with bad connections or lower end systems say this, less server load means the game runs a little smoother for them.
