FF used to be good when there weren't any other shielding powersets out there?
And Grav used to be decent when you could pop out 3 Sings for mass holding. Not nearly as good as 3 sets of Fire Imps, but what was.... (That was when I made my Grav controller! I'm not crazy!)
7 times? I thought the pets just take their share of the MMs damage on top of the normal damage from the AOE
That's what I mean, though. A tank or brute taking a 100-point AoE takes 100, where the MM is exposed for up to 700. Of course, if they have an AoE heal they can also heal damage at a stupendous rate, but I just can't buy MMs as the tanks for villainside.
Every time I read about bodyguard mode it looks like it's still 100 damage, just split up with the mastermind taking 1/4 of the total and each henchman taking 1/8.

CoX has a situation I don't think I've ever seen in videogames, where some players seem so masochistically determined to love a powerset that rather than complain about it being bad, or pretend it isn't horribly bad, they embrace its flaws as somehow redeeming.
I mean there are powersets in this game that basically should have [deprecated] tags around them (grav, FF, looking at you), but I bet there is a whole group of people posting on the coh boards who are trying to convince everyone that grav/ff is an awesome controller and they soloed with it just fine from 1-50.
Which I could maybe accept as part of some weird gambit to convince the devs to give the sets some buffs, only every time everyone suggests one they hate on that, too.
It's bizzare. In WoW it's the polar opposite, everyone on the official forums is constantly bitching about how this or that is broken and "waaah paladins get this so shamans should get this", even though in reality everything is perfectly fine. The fact that the CoH forums are the way they are is bewildering.
The only thing preventing MMs from being real tanks is the fact that when they're exposed to AoE damage they take up to 7 times as much as other ATs. If they're facing pure ST damage they can last a loooong time.
Yeah, but their combined health pool is larger than a tank's, no?

Yes, with the aforementioned AoE issue. The other problem some have to cope with is cascading failure, like when a Thugs player losers their Enforcers, or a ProBot stays down for too long. Usually other sets don't have to worry about losing toggles if they get hit too hard.

Ok so here's my tweak of the build PL gave me for cheap permadom with hasten. I think this is the cheapest way to get me to actual permadom. The changes I made are:
Replacing the 7.5% in whirlwind with a lotg in stealth, allowing me to lose superspeed for an extra power pick (grant invisibility) which I can put an lotg in
Switching leadership for concealement and using that extra power pick for invisibility which I can put another lotg in
Using the slots I gained from whirlwind in psionic dart and fitting a decimation in it for an extra 6.25% recharge
Switching leaping for fly and putting the lotg in hover and picking fly as my travel because flying is awesome
which takes me up to 115% recharge without hasten. There's nothing else I can really add without purples. Subdue currently only has a thunderstrike in it but I figure eventually an apocalypse will go there.

ooh I can switch summon guardian (which I never use) for surge of power and put an impervious skin in it for 5% with frees up a 6.25 to put in subdue which takes me to 120%
Recharge builds, so fun. Psi doms are probably the most lax in power selection out of all my characters, I don't need stamina, but I took it just cause I can.
So...it's been a while since I've been on my old mistress CoH...Just got out of a long relationship that had an unspoken "no MMO's EVER" rule. Looks like it's time to get back in the saddle. Making a new character on Virtue and I'd love to play with the cool kids. Got room for an old school beta vet who's looking to get back in on the action?
This is what I came up with for an obscene monster build, it's actually obscenier and monsterouslessner than I originally thought because I didn't know you could change toggles in mids

Level 50 Magic Brute
Primary Power Set: Electrical Melee
Secondary Power Set: Willpower
Power Pool: Leaping
Power Pool: Fitness
Power Pool: Medicine
Power Pool: Fighting
What are your dudes' thoughts on this as a level 50 ss/shield brute build? I am fairly confident I can build it relatively cheaply, but I want to make sure I didn't so something completely retarded with it.
edit: biggest concern is that my +rec seems low, and I might not really have a way to solve that without purps. Does anyone know roughly how much +rec the performance shifter proc translates into, or does mids factor it into the totals automatically?
edit2: also, how important is aid self?

How hard are respecs to come by and how often can I do them? That is, someone tell me what these trials are about. My assault corrupter is gonna need one because I came up with a better power / enhancement slotting plan than what's currently in place.
I'm gonna check this game out for a third time. Is the PA super group pretty active?

So I finally started messing around with the mission architect, and had a collectable object as an objective to complete it. When I tested it though, the object didn't show up at all. Is there some sort of requirement for certain objects to be found in certain types of maps?

Am I missing something, or are they explaining it poorly?
No, that's correct. The damage just gets spread evenly, which is a wonderful thing for sets like Dark with their AoE heal.

edit: biggest concern is that my +rec seems low, and I might not really have a way to solve that without purps. Does anyone know roughly how much +rec the performance shifter proc translates into, or does mids factor it into the totals automatically?
edit2: also, how important is aid self?
that's why we call it the struggle, you're supposed to sweat
Also aidself is pretty important to any set without a self heal imo, but that is just opinion.
I could lose the patron pool to get grant cover and medicine, I suppose.

Now I know you're trolling.
