So I have an iPod Touch, set up with iTunes on my desktop PC. Lately, I stopped using the desktop in favor of my laptop, because I found myself less in need of gaming and more in desire of a comfortable couch position. When I needed to charge the iPod, I would use my desktop, powered on but left in the login menu, because the laptop stopped charging the iPod one day. About a week ago, I put in my iPod to charge on the desktop, and it charged about 70-80 percent before stopping. I used it anyway, and ran it down again. Yesterday, when I plugged it into the desktop again, it didn't charge. While plugging it into any USB port around my house will bring up the charging icon, no progress is made.
Perhaps related, when I boot iTunes and plug in my iPod, it syncs indefinitely and will sometimes freeze the program; I cannot unsync without unplugging the device. I know this is a bad decision but otherwise I cannot stop the endless sync.
Have you tried connecting the USB to the back of your PC, where there happen to be a few USB ports?? If nothing happens....then you better check your USB cable, it's possible that the ends might have been bent for some reason.
So it wasn't charging despite using a new cable. After it ran out, I plugged it in and it quickly filled up to 1/2 charge. Then it went down. Then back to 1/2, where it won't go past.
