Hey. I want to try making one of those t-shirt companies, and I was wondering if anyone knows any info about where I can actually get custom t-shirts made? I googled a few companies, but they are kind of expensive and they only give discounts up to 250-300 shirts, but where do those companies actually get their t-shirts from? I'm guessing they outsource them since it's probably too expensive to make them on your own. Any ideas?
Is outsourcing immoral? If so, are there any alternatives?
When you're starting out it will probably be more cost effective to silk screen them yourself as outsourcing really only saves you money on large orders.
I have a friend who has a company that makes t-shirts, buttons, and other stuff. They do both their own designs and custom orders. They have an account with American Apparrel so they can buy t-shirts and other articles of clothing in bulk.
Why would outsourcing be immoral? Do you specifically mean outsourcing to the third world? If so, then it completely depends on the labor conditions of the place you outsource to.
Could I ask a similar question in this thread? (if it's an issue, let me know)
I want to get some custom t-shirts made for a upcoming Bachelor Party (about 10-15 of them). Where is the best place to get this done?
I have to highly recommend CustomInk.com. I got some tshirts from them (about the same quantity), and they were fantastic to work with (my art needed some corrections to look good, which they did free and very quickly)
I would check out www.instructables.com for at home silk screening guides. I've done it myself (the long arduous way of using glue and painting it instead of photosensitive chemicals), but its a very straightforward process. Your local art store probably carries everything you need.
