I recently got a PS3. I have a wireless router in my home (an old Linksys WRT54G) and I'm trying to set up a wireless connection to the PS3. I went through "Network Settings" and set everything up on the PS3, but it's not working.
Every time I try to enable that connection, the router gets disabled. On my PC, I get a "Limited Connectivity" message, and neither the PC or the PS3 can access the Internet. The only option I have is to unplug and reset the router. So, for now I have the PS3 connection disabled.
The strange thing is, my Wii behaves perfectly with the router, as does my wife's Mac.
I'll provide the list of settings for the PS3 if necessary, but I don't want to clutter the thread up if those aren't needed, especially given that I suspect the problem might simply be that the router is too damned old.
Sounds to me like you may need to set static IP addresses for all of your internet devices. But first I would suggest reseting your router, modem, wii, mac and PC. Once they're all going and connected again try getting the ps3 online again.
If that dosn't do it then yeah you will just have to set everything with it's own address.

The problem seems to only be between the PS3 and the router. The Wii, Mac and PC don't have to be on for the router to stop working.
Looks like the IP address is the problem. When I try the connection test on the PS3, it can't find an IP address. I have it set currently for automatic IP addressing.
OK, so I'm dumb about this stuff. How do I go about setting static IP addresses?
I've got the Media Server disabled already. I guess I'll have to figure out the static IP thing. It still bugs me that both my Wii, and my 360 before, both worked perfectly fine.
