Happy Easter!

The Nintendo DS gets Dokapon Journey, the portable iteration of Atlus's weird uh board game RPG hybrid I think? Atlus is also releasing The Dark Spire this week, some kind of exploration-based RPG. Gotta love Atlus's NDS support!

PC gamers get Demigod this week. What is it? Some kind of strategy-ish game in which you play as a powerful Demigod with a legion of mythical beast-like followers, and go out to destroy your opposing demigods and their forces? Looks cool.

PS2 finally gets GH Metallica

And Wii finally gets Samurai Shodown Anthology, 7 games; Samurai Shodown, I, II, III, IV, V, V Special and VI .

That's it besides the as of yet announced Digital Distro games.

** I hope CORE ds actually comes out this week; its release date has been shoved around like crazy, but I think this is the week it ought to come out

The Dark Spire is a first person dungeon crawler, but all I know about it is that it's more like Wizardry than EO(bleak dungeons, not bright and shiny forests), and it's going for a retro look.

I don't know anything about the story or even how the mapping is going to work, but I think it uses automap.

I think Outrun Arcade is supposed to be hitting XBLA this week, in which case, I'll be buying it.

From what I've read, The Dark Spire has automap. Seems like the dungeons aren't randomized either which killed my interest in the game.

That Samurai Shodown Anthology is looking like a hell of a deal. It's nice when a collection is actually complete.

Are we actually going to get Black Sigil this time? It was supposed to come out around this time two years ago.

    Same with CORE DS.

    Fuck, moved again.

    This is bullshit!

But I do appreciate the update, Renzo :) Just sucks that these games keep getting shoved back repeatedly. Over and over and over.

edit: The fortunate thing is, according to the CEO of Grafitti or whoever, is that they're producing more copies of Black Sigil and CORE than originally planned to get more out there into retail.

Yeah. 30% more than planned, and to larger retailers = good times for all.

Demigod is a graphically updated, stand alone dota. With fewer heroes.

Dokapon would have been insta buy with online.

Of course, then threatening your opponents with brutal, bestial retaliation for the dickery they are planning loses a bit of its mojo.

DS has a vector mode, if memory serves. +1 eventually just for that!

So, does Dokapon Journey have wifi capabilities, or is it just local DS?

Finally, some details on The Dark Spire's plot:

    http://www.siliconera.com/2009/04/14/atlus-describes-whats-lurking-inside-the-dark-spire/
Can you tell us about the story? Where do the tower climbing adventurers fit in?

Devin Curry, Editor: The Dark Spire takes place in a classic fantasy world of adventurers, warlords, wizards, and foul creatures. The story begins when powerful King Kronus is betrayed by his most trusted ally, the Archmage Tyrhung. In the middle of a victory celebration for the king’s latest conquest, Tyrhung steals the Fairy’s Tears, a mysterious necklace of immense power, snatching it right from the queen’s neck. Then, as evil wizards sometimes do, Tyrhung transforms himself into a dragon and flies off into the night, eventually fortifying himself within the titular Dark Spire, a foreboding structure that is perpetually surrounded by mist.

King Kronus, enraged by Tyrhung’s deception, decrees that any group of heroes who successfully defeat Tyrhung and recover the precious Fairy’s Tears will be rewarded beyond their wildest dreams. However, getting to Tyrhung will prove to be no easy task because the tower is filled with all manner of monsters, beasts, and spirits, as well as unsavory thieves, pirates, and all-around scum.

The player-created protagonists (complete with rolling for stats) will join the legions of adventurers who plan to seek fame and fortune by braving the dangers that lie within the Dark Spire and vanquishing the evil Archmage.

    Sounds good to me.

As far as PSN goes, PixelJunk Eden Encore is getting released for sure on Thursday. Dunno about anything else yet, but there probably won't be a bunch else as far as games go.

The Valkyria Chronicles DLC should be coming out this week too. The hard mode and two additional missions will be sold seperately (one of the missions lets you play as the Empire).

Outrun Online Arcade should be coming out this week on XBLA. There's a PS3 version too but it's only being released on the PAL PSN, it's not getting a US release.
