Rechargeable batteries!
Magus`The fun has been DOUBLED!Registered Userregular
So I have a lot of wireless controllers (360, PS2, Wii, etc) and quite frankly I'm tired of getting new batteries.
So I'm looking for some rechargeable batteries (WITH charger). What's a good brand? Good price? Good place to buy? Not looking for anything fancy (like 5 second recharge times or some shit) but I want it to last for awhile.
I think that rechargeable batteries are where you'll actually want to invest a few extra bucks and get some namebrand stuff, since you'll want something that's built with quality and that will last. Cheap stuff would die out faster and probably not have as much longevity either.

I bought this charger at the recommendation of a lot of people on the board and (judging by the amazon reviews) most of the internet. It comes with 4 AA rechargables, 4 AAA rechargables, adapters to turn them into C and D batteries, a nifty case, and the charger. So far it's worked splendidly, and unlike most cheaper chargers, you can control how fast it charges the batteries. I have them charge at the lowest speed (low current), I'm told that that will maximize the batteries' lifespans.
I got an Eneloop (by Sanyo) charger and battery bundle from Costco. 30 bucks or so, but well worth it. They last eons, and the tech means they will have the same capacity for years.

I use the Duracell rechargables that come fully charged. They are apparently just relabeled Enloops. I have never had a problem with them, and you can buy a starter pack with a charger.
Just make sure that you get the ones that come fully charged; they are different than the ones that have to be charged right out of the package.
make sure you get low discharge batteries for your controllers... any battery will work, but most of the typical NiMH or NiCd AA/AAA batteries tend to discharge fairly quickly when unused
i started off with a pile of AA Energizers for all my systems (Wii, 360, PS2, Xbox, plus the Guitar Hero controllers, etc. etc.) and I found that they would last a long time if gaming constantly, but discharge much faster than a non-rechargeable AA if unused for days at a time
i ended up getting the 360 proprietary batteries (which you can recharge while playing if needed) since that's the system i use most
for all else, i intend to upgrade to eneloops PLUS a charger that maintains the batteries rather than just blindly charging them
oh, one more thing... don't be surprised if you get one or two bad rechargeables if you buy a lot of them... sometimes it's very difficult to diagnose why one of your toys goes dead quickly, and that's the 1st thing i'd check...
The thing about those USB batteries is that they have a horribly low capacity, only 1300maH, where most good recharables you buy are almost double that, in the 2500 range.
