New deal for April 13: Pac-Man Championship Edition!

http://www.amazon.com/Pac-Man-C-E-Online-Game-Xbox-360/dp/B001LRQ956

It looks like this will be a rotating schedule for about 24 hours. Pac-Man CE is now only $5, 50 percent off from its normal price of 800 points/$10. Buy this shit now, it's one of the best games on XBLA!

Thanks for the heads up, I'll probably get this today. I've had the demo downloaded forever, but haven't gotten around to getting the full game yet. $5 is a no-brainer.

Hrm, I just tried this, and it went up to $10 + tax on the last screen before you hit buy. I'm wondering if they pulled the new pricing. Now the main page is also showing $10.

Ah, must have just ended. It was fine about a half-hour ago. :( The sale started yesterday, so maybe it's a 24-hour deal.

Still, I think it's cool that Amazon has the potential to put XBLA games on sale. I'll keep an eye out for the next one.

Also, I believe that Amazon always uses the original MSRP for all their products when displaying discounts. They have the original Geometry Wars listed for 50% off 10 dollars, when it's already 5 dollars (400 points) from XBLA right now. I'm assuming that the original game was 10 dollars (800 points) before Geometry Wars 2 came out

Nah, Geometry Wars was $5 long before GW2 came out.

If you guys missed this or want an even better deal, just grab the Namco Museum: Virtual Arcade for $15 at the Gamestop sale. Hate even mentioning that place, but it's a good deal since you get about 9 XBL games including legions, as well as about 20+ Namco classics.

The problem with this is that it's not on your hard drive. For quick pick up and play games like that, there's a lot to be said for just being able to select the game and play it without having to swap disks.

This is what I did. Certainly is a good deal, just $10 more.

I actually owned the XBLA Unplugged disc shortly after I bought my 360, but I ended up selling it off for $10 and just buying Geometry Wars standalone specifically so I could get rid of the disc. The instant gratification is really the best part of digital distro, IMO.

I ended up picking up the Namco thingy on my way to work since $15 for Pac-man CE, Galaga Legions, and a bunch of other stuff that will at least entertain me for a couple of hours while I replay them and inevitably realize they haven't aged well seemed like a pretty good deal. I agree that the disc swap is less than ideal, but it doesn't bother me.

I hope that Amazon has some more sales like this, since there's still 4-5 games on Live Arcade I don't own. and would definately buy on the spot if they dropped to half-price.

Pac-Man CE is fantastic—it's far more than "more levels for Pac-Man." If you like Geometry Wars or other kind of intense shmups, you'll love CE.

I secretly love shmups, but I'm not so secretly terrible at them. I'm using XBLA's realtively cheap pricepoints to take the plunge on Galaga Legions, 1942, and Rez so I don't feel bad when I don't get past the third stage ever. It was actually the shmups in that Retro Challenge DS game that got me to try the genre again, since Cosmic Gate and the other one were pretty great.

Pac-Man CE is the best shmup of all time that isn't actually a shmup.

Hey, we accidentally were on-topic! Amazon changed its deal, and now apparently Pac-Man Championship Edition is marked down half-price to $5! One of the best games on XBLA, buy it now if you don't already own it.

Is there any expiration date on the codes that Amazon sends out? I don't have a 360 yet but if they're going to offer deals, I might as well snatch up games I know I'd get anyway, if they're discounted.

I would imagine it would work just fine with a US account on the 360, same as downloading demos and what not is handled.

Note, Pac Man CE is also on the Namco disc for $15, for those that don't know, along with every other classic Pac Man game you can think of. Yes, there is disc swappage, but you get waaaaaaaa(add 50 more a's here)y more bang for your buck!

That may be true, but Pac-Man CE is the kind of game that everyone should have on their hard drive for instant access. Although I guess at those kinds of prices, you could just do both. :)

Yeah I have PacMan CE that I never play because it came on a disc. Not sure if I want to buy it again since I already have it. Maybe I can sell it off. (I sold my copy of Burnout Paradise for the PS3, just so I could have the psn version)

Let me tell you about Demon's Souls....
I’ll tell you what happens in Demon’s Souls when you die. You come back as a ghost with your health capped at half. And when you keep on dying, the alignment of the world turns black and the enemies get harder. That’s right, when you fail in this game, it gets harder. Why? Because fuck you is why.
