I can't imagine how a 3-faction system could work with the current city siege implementation. I'd love to see a third faction, because right now it feels like endgame is either one side continually dominating another, or a stalemate with some back-'n-forth. But I think they'd need to scrap the current endgame design and start from scratch if they wanted to accommodate three factions.
Any DAoC players in this thread? What sort of stuff used to go on with DAoC relic sieges? If Altdorf was besieging a Midgard relic fort, what did max-level Hib players do?

They could just redraw up the current maps to accommodate three sides. It'd take some effort, and you'd have to up quest experience for Destro and Order since they'd lose some chapters.
If Mythic's going to implement a 3rd faction, I think they'd create a new landmass rather than dick around with the current stuff. If it ain't broke don't fix it, you know.
3 factions would be the stupidest fucking thing in WAR. Like seriously, it is the most retarded suggestion in the suggestion forums that I see. Just because you are reminiscent of DAoC, or if something worked well in DAoC doesn't mean that it will work well or fit right in WAR.

Except...it is broke. There aren't a ton of servers where it's really back-and-forth. One side is pounding on the doors multiple times each week, and the other might manage to weakly retaliate one early morning. And it's a slippery slope, as the losing side will quit from discouragement before the other from boredom.
Chaos is an army. This is about Order vs. Destruction. It can also involve a third, sneaky side that sees the war as an opportunity to greatly weaken six occupied foes.

There will never be 3 factions in WAR. The discussion was about number advantages, and the best way to nulify that is with 3 factions, but 3 factions have to go in from the beginning. With a 2 factions system like WAR, numbers snowball. One side gets zerged, goes F this and logs off. The other side is winning and feeling good and stays logged on.
WAR can't have 3 factions because the whole thing would have to be redesigned. Maybe an expansion.
Races, as that would mean more classes. City sieges are not that popular and would require more improvements to get people pumped about attacking new ones.
So Patch 1.3 is apparently on the test server now, but you can't actually log in and play yet. Still, you can go ahead and download the 958mb patch so its ready whenever they do open it up for testing. Sadly, no patch notes on the patcher for it yet.
They did mention some maintenance with their ISP for the 13th... Thing is, it is still the 12th here in Chicago, but I guess everything is down. Their main website and account shit and even the patcher. =/
Oh well, at least their test patcher is up. Time to download that shit.
Yeah, things weren't supposed to go down until the early AM of the 13th, but word has it that Mythic's ISP is notorious for starting things really early.
Finally got through to their forums. Here is what they had up.
Announcement: Mythic Network Maintenance - 5/13/09
At 9:00AM EDT all servers and Mythic web services will be brought offline for necessary maintenance by our internet service provider. We anticipate the maintenance to be completed before 1:00PM EDT. During this time, however, no game services (including the patcher and account center), or websites hosted by Mythic, will be available. The Forums will continue to operate, but if you are not logged in prior to the downtime you will be unable to post (those already logged in will be able to participate normally.)
We apologize for this interruption in services and will work to have it resolved as quickly as possible. Please follow the thread linked below for updates and information throughout the downtime. Thank you for your patience!

I'm not sure I agree with the 3 faction system being the best way to eliminate number advantages. Planetside was three factions and it seemed like there was usually one side getting it's ass kicked. This of course ended once the other two zergs ran into each other but that could take upwards of 8-10 hours depending on whether they avoided eachother or not. That may not seem like a long time but imagine logging in right after getting off work or something then having your ass handed to you until you went to bed. It could be... frustrating at times.
Poor Vanu. I blame you for sitting at the end of hallways and using lashers. You were just so much fun to use the thumper on.
I'm not sure this is an issue that's really fixable in a persistant multiplayer setting. As the tide turns against one side or the other people get frustrated and quit, leading to that side getting their asses kicked even harder. You can improve this problem but I don't think you'll ever be able to actually control it.
The bonus to exp that you got from your side being underpopulated seemed to help a little, at least that's the impression I got from base/continent chat in Panetside, but I think WAR's system for it is kind of flawed. It almost needs to be teir based. Having roughly equal server populations but one side is primarily in T2/3 and the other is in T4 means that while total number of people on is roughly the same the RvR fights are anything but.
See, the fuckers who complain about overwhelming numbers never really played Camelot. I played on a server that was Albion vs. Everyone else. Okay? There would be Hib and Mid zergs attacking Albion constantly and even when all 3 of us would collide, they wouldn't attack each other. Midgard would take the Albion Melee relic and hold onto theirs forever and Hibs would do the same thing but with our magic relic.
Now that was some bullshit and it was very difficult to break out of that nitch.
So I decided to give this another shot today before my subscription runs out, not played since slayer was released. I was once able to play on pretty much max setting even in large'ish rvr battles. Today i poped on, got in one t1 scenario and got myself a healthy half a frame a second, on minimum settings, my compter has not changed, so I must assume this game has gone through a major graphics update since i have been away.

Not impressed.
Did you log in before or after their ISP decided to do the network changes?

This was because Albion was Mythic's favorite child. everyone else hated them. thats why Mid/Hib would work together to say EFF YOU ALB GOATRAPERS!

Definitely this.
If you logged in at all yesterday afternoon / evening, that was some of the worst server performance we've had thanks to Mythic's ISP messing around, causing horrible crashing and lag.
So, I thought I'd post a bit of a recruitment blurb in here:
Server: Iron Rock
Guild: <Rush>
Guild_Rank: 30.4
Alliance: Raven Host
Play_Time: 10pm EST is when we schedule things, though many players are on much earlier/later than that.
Strengths: Core group of dedicated players, that organize for T4 scenario premades, and content progression.
Recruits: We are looking for people that want to advance a favorite character as far as they can go. We are willing to put in the time to help you get your character some of the best gear in the game. And we want you to play that character to help win T4 scenarios, and push zone locks.
Brags:
1) Fought <Blacklisted> and <Crucible> T4 premades at the same time to a TIE in the Praag scenario.
2) Cleared Lost Vale
3) Regular dungeon runs to help gear members, can take people with as little as 2 wards.
Future Goals: If we get enough people, we want to be able to field a warband for ORvR and push zone locks, and eventually cities.
EDIT: PM if you are interested in hearing more, or go to our website <Rush> and use the Forum link on the left.
Anyone able to explain to me why when i fought an engineer solo my 40% block rate ended up being about 3 blocks over a 4 minute fight. Just curious. Until i figure it out fuck shields outside of PVE.

They would PBAOE everyone
Mez.
Order vs Destruction vs Space Marines.

MAYBE AN ACTIVE GUILD
It seems that all the servers were crashing at the same time, which is pretty bizarre.
Steam: Drokmir
At least on Badlands.
Mad crashes all over

Hopefully that's a good thing then?
