Is it just me or do troops stuck in a melee swarm with tyranids spend half their time navigating the rippers just to hit something dangerous? add more rippers for lolz...
It's been like this since forever. Also, I'll say it again, retreating units need to ignore blocking by melee units. It's not realistic, but it will be better for the game than the current Orc and especially Tyranid tarpit strategies.
But then melee units would be worthless.

I understand the logic behind it, but the way charge/leap mechanic works means that melee units are really the only unit that can chase and continue to damage a retreating unit (except for warp spiders and some tanks). I think they should make it so chargemove isn't used against retreating units. That way assault marines wouldn't be able to chase you across the whole map, doing extra damage the entire way.
Playing tyranids invalidates all your opinions, regardless of whatever value they may have otherwise had.
Much like being called "Pancake" or "Goomba".
I get it now! Though why I bothered responding to you initially is still a mystery.
In any event, melee tarpits are something that Relic needs to look at and actually address. Minding, that's getting to be a pretty long list by this point. I would be happy with some needed nerfs to certain Tyranid Wargear at this point.
Hey so that was a good idea to let stickbombas do full damage to retreating units while removing most of the knockback on the grenades. It's pretty awesome to lose entire squads and heroes to a 330/30 unit :^:
At least orkz don't get a 300 req unit that can go into a 200/20 transport and take out power faster than any other race, while making the 300 setup unit walk around while shooting. Oh wait. Wait they can.
Hahah, my prophecy of ork power is coming true, even better in t1!
Oh and second, the ravener is still op bullshit.
The buildtimes on the tunnels don't do a whole lot and the wargear is still terrifying.

The tunnel build time needs to be extended and I still think tunnels need a biomass cost. This still won't change much if the ridiculous wargear stays the same.
Edit: And there's a bug where you can't deselect one squad. You can select that squad and another squad, but not your base. And if that unit dies, it doesn't leave the right hand side. It just flashes red and sits at 0 HP. But you can select your base again at least.
Ok... so I'm now getting much worse performance from the game. Even my little rainbow performance thing has changed. I now get nasty stuttering when there's a big fight. Especially when an HQ is being attacked by three armies.
I'm using a 4870, 4 gig ram and a phenom 2.4ghz. I'm not a tech head by that's pretty good amirite?

Was going strong up until you said phenom.
Ditch the phenom.
No. The game ran perfectly before the patch - when I still had full green bars on the 'perf' rating. Post patch it runs worse. And I've been downgraded on their cute little rainbow bar.
What the hell is that about...
Sepah: Yeah. It's not like lag induced stuttering. It looks like swapping to me...
So me and a pal played a 2v2 against the AI on expert to see if it had been much improved.
I will say this: It is definitely better at bringing its resource cheats to bear. It was almost like an arcade game; for every squad I brought down, two more took its place.
I am hoping so badly that he's the Mek that planted the mines under Akira's razorback right in front of my rangers. That was an ace move right there, douchebag.
If so, you were sitting without moving in typhon arena's retarded retreat corridor with your big melee blob to tarpit units who were retreating from battles you wernt even involved in. I lost half my army to your tarpitting despite the fact that they started retreating over 20 seconds prior to you even becoming visible, and with well over half their health.
But hey, its cool, I came back and exploded you with warpspiders.

Hah, sure I guess, I wasn't really aware I was doing that. You see, it was my first time playing Orks and all.
If it's satisfying to call me a faggot and a douchebag for trying to learn the game though, that's cool, whatever makes you feel bigger.
And no, I don't believe we were pink, I was just using the default colour scheme at any rate.

Although I will be fair and say that Canis deserves that and more.
Edit: Oh wait unless you are the one that tried to super abuse mines the entire time and didn't even run into Canis. So, uh, are you the Canisfaggot or the Goombadouchebag? One was on a desert map and the other was the city.
Ugh. Awkward. Well if really was an accident then sorry I guess dude. But you were accidentally doing some seriously frustrating tarpitting bullshit.
I think I lost two squads to you clumping the retreat corridor behind my forces so I coudnt get through, even though they'd started retreating over 20 seconds earlier.
Interesting. So the bug of having your hero charge into the other teams base to die horribly has changed into having the hero stand there with his thumb up his ass ignoring commands to do anything except retreat. I guess that's marginally better.

Please take it more seriously and more personal.
Hardly taking it seriously, I honestly just found it amusing that you guys crowed so much after utterly demolishing a group of brand new players.
I must be the Canisfaggot, I don't think I tried out the mines until halfway into the game. Where's the exploit in using mines anyway though? If it's any consolation, I'm pretty sure the 'tarpitting' was just me attack-moving sluggas because my micro's terrible.

"Tarpitting" is just sending X melee guys to attack Y retreating guys, typically with the melee guys being in the path of the retreat. No micro required.
The mine exploit is basically if you use them like grenades and not, you know, mines.
I thought the point of mines was to put them where dudes will walk over them? Do you need to get permission where to place them?
No, nooo, if you throw the mines an inch in front of you so they land in a big pile you are gigantic douchebag that should just play ravener. If you throw them normally then that's coo'.
Edit: And Akira, Canis... Woggle? That game where my farseer was hit by the orbital and we thought she was going to die? She didn't because stealth nerf to orbitial yessss.

I don't know how the Mekboy's mines work other than he throws them somewhere, so I'll be bowing out of this discussion before I make a fool of myself.
All ranged units should only be able to shoot at each other if your side has the advantage.
CC units should not be allowed to get near ranged units. If they do their retreating path should be 100% clear and when they hit retreat, if stuck in melee, they should turn into ghosts and phase through the melee unit.

Basically the mekboy can pile mines in one singular location so when a unit so much as retreats over it it dies. Even a force commander or a tank dies.
And it's nice to see people arguing that CC is weak. I hate it when my ranged units just decimate melee units and when they are forced to retreat they start taking 130% damage and forget how to walk for five seconds so they are utterly destroyed. Not enough people bring up the issue of why ranged damage is so overpowered compared to melee. Poor melee units You know the mechanic is broken when you have to tell your dedicated high damage ra- melee units to go into ranged fire so they actually do damage to retreating units.

Unfortunately, there are people who think that melee tarpitting is perfectly fair and that if you remove it melee units will be worthless.
They're called tyranids.

Hurr durf hurr.
Considering I've been playing Tyranids since the beta ...

Also, it feels like the Banshees are alot tougher, and the Warp Spiders are more fragile... I'm not sure I like the Warp Spiders being more fragile.

That is, unless I beat him to it!
