Id like to take this opportunity to say FUCK NIKON and their shit customer/tech service. I called to ask a basic question about a hot shoe adaptor just to confirm. The fuck proceeds to try and convince me that using flashes/strobes not manufactured by nikon isn't possible.
Well, using third party anything is generally frowned upon from their standpoint. It also tends to void the warranty if that particular item ruined your DSLR, which hotshoe flashes can do if they aren't compatible (particularly the film-era flashes like the early versions of the Vivitar 285).
They also start out with, "no, it won't work," and then progress with, "well, you can't use ttl," and so on.
It's still pretty shitty, but that's the way they play the game.

the guy who did the Superman radio show brought them down in part. he decided that the KKK was the most evil organization working in America at the time, infiltrated the society, learned their secrets, and systematically destroyed them on the radio show under the guise of Superman.
