After looking at my stats for last nights 25 man, I realise now how amazing Wild Growth is for everything. Like, crazy good. But I love my Swiftmend Glyph! And Lifebloom! And nourish!
Discuss why I am dumb for having one of these. I think it is either Bloom or Nourish... hmmm..
(I love nourish)
It's bloom for me. Don't know how much extra heal you get out of 1 sec, but it's not worth the glyph slot. 9 times out of 10 I am waiting > 1 sec on bloom so that I can refresh or roll. That extra second rarely pays off.
Nourish and SW are the only glyphs I'm sold on as necessary. If I raid healed more then I guess I would want WG in the bunch.

Probably depends on your gear. With decent cat gear there is 0 downtime but with good moonkin gear things probably explode.
Very much so. I know with my current gear any non-elite mob i want dead is asploded very very quickly. As for leveling speed the first 80 on my realm was a balance druid!
Both Balance and Feral can tear through mobs really fast. Feral has the option of soloing elites where Balance can only solo elites that are rootable. Balance can tag everything in an area with Starfall for AoEing while a feral's stuck gathering them all up before they can do anything.
Even then, feral's AoE still lacks due to waiting on energy regen. Except those pulls where you have Berserk. Starfall is on a 90 second cooldown and Barkskin is under a minute, making at least one available each pull.
76 druid in a casual guild looking to go raiding when i hit 80, and i have been intensely strugging over which of these combinations to pursue
cat/bear
cat/resto
balance/bear
balance/resto
I want DPS so i can do quests and whatnot with ease, yet I want to get into groups, I am reasonably skilled in all of these specs
if you have anything to say that would push me in any direction i would really appreciate it because i am completely nuetral now that people made resto more attractive to me, bringing it back into the mix
You pick up all the essential bear talents, so you're perfectly capable of tanking. You still pull excellent dps as manglespam. You solo like whoa. And plus you can turn into a tree and heal whenever you feel like it.
Not to mention, we're the only class in the game that can be pulling 5800 dps and then turn into basically a fully-specced threat-geared tank mid-fight. This is a really neat trick on hardmodes like Decon and Iron Council, since it essentially frees up a raid spot that would have otherwise been filled with a terrible-dps tank who's useless for a good portion of the fight.
Yeah you can't go wrong with Feral/Resto dual spec. Currently what my main is (Link in the sig), I'm the guild's MT and decent Healer when needed, but due to the fuckton of gear sets I like to collect I decided on another Druid alt to finally try out this Oomkin spec.

Insect Swarm glyph is much better for dps. If your tanks need the extra 2% that bad then Starfall is 2nd best.
So I'm looking for a decent tanking trinket for my beartank. Already have the dodge trinket purchased with emblems of heroism, but I really need something in that second slot. Ran heroic Azjol Nerub many, many times, and Hadranox does not want to give that thing up. I'm sick of H AN.
Are there any good, obscure beartanking trinkets I could go after that won't eat up a lot of my time? Maybe something from TBC content? The wowhead filter is not helpful, and most of the "gear your bear" info on the tubes focuses on best in slot or isn't helpful. I just want something I can grab quickly to fill that Trinket 2 slot. Right now Trinket 2 is the medal obtained from the Battle of Undercity, and that's pretty weak relative to the rest of my gear--it's far and away my weakest piece.
Again, I just want to get something in there temporarily while I figure out my other options. Something I can obtain with certainty...no RNG funtimes on this one.
DISCLAIMER: Also, this is kind of a crosspost: put something to this effect in the Professions thread hoping for advice on crafting a trinket.
The only guaranteed ones to get that could fill in would be either the JC monarch crab, or Alch tank trinkets.
There are no good rep trinkets in wotlk, and any that could stand as a servicable stand in from BC would be no where near worth the time they would take.
edit: in fact, the JC trinket is better anyway. The Alch one might be too, but I don't recall the stats offhand, since I only see it very rarely.
i mean it's a trinket that has sockets, if you slap solid dragon's eyes in there that's + an additional 82 stam, making it a total of +154 stam(since you get the 9 stam bonus). but if you just wanted to go with solid sky sapphires that's still a healthy +111 stam, or you can do whatever you please, obviously
combined with an increased 7.6% dodge for 10 seconds every minute (translates to 1.27% overall dodge increase)
not bad
however if you're neither of these just go on armory, and see what's better and where it drops, that's really my best advice

5800 DPS in a hybrid spec? How? You must have insane gear.
There's not as big of a gap between shred and mangle builds as you would think. That's why it surprises me so few people seem to use hybrid specs.
I recently swapped out my gear for my four-piece, and my dps has stayed basically the same (just get a hell of a lot more breathing room). Previously I had a collection of 213-226 gear from Naxx/Maly/Sarth (Frosted Adroit, Leggings of the Honored, etc) and the T7 2-piece. I still haven't gotten an armor pen trinket, so I've been just gemming for straight agility. I also never get ToT/Hysteria or anything, and use mining/herbalism professions like a pro.
I mean, sure, I'll never pull 7400, but I can still compete just fine with the other melee on single-target fights (get my ass kicked on Kologarn of course).
Seems a worthwhile sacrifice for the versatility, I think.
Cunty was talking about how he wanted to play multiple roles, so I think catbear/resto would be a great option for him. Personally, my playstyle is the jack-of-all-trades/fill-in sort, so I'm happiest when I've swapped roles every 1-2 fights all night. DPS Decon, heal Auriaya, tank Hodir, etc (though flasking appropriately is a pain in the ass...).
Goddamn, they need to make tier hats buyable with badges. Sharing my tanking T7 hat (with armor metagem) into my cat gear is starting to be a real pisser. :x

So in spite of my better judgment I've gone from Bear/Cat to Bear/Moonkin. I've NEVER played Moonkin before, and while I'm starting to get the rotation for group combat down, what is the normal way to grind dailies? Wrath to death?
(yes I know it doesn't matter that much)
(edit) Also, should I have taken Imp Insect Swarm instead of Dreamstate?
Basically yeah, I start out with a starfire only because a crit almost instakills most mobs. Also then you get the Wrath buff. Then you cast wrath harder.
Dreamstate's worthless, 50 times moreso for grinding, so yes take basically anything else instead of that. I personally like Wrath->Starfire while it's travelling->Wrath to death: dont' bother with DoTs while grinding they die too quick for it to matter.

I wanted to follow up on this just to share my experience in case others are in a similar predicament with trinkets. I just couldn't continue on with a crit trinket where sta/agi/dodge should be.
I went after the alchemy trinket. I had just barely started herbalism on my druid to begin with (was at ~75), so it seemed like a natural fit. Epic flight form made the whole thing a breeze: it took me about 3.5 hrs total to get from 75 to roughly 420 herbalism. I focused on herbs that would be good for powerleveling alchemy (sungrass, felweed, goldclover). Those herbs plus ~100g spent at the AH and a few stacks I had banked got me from 0 to 400 alchemy alongside herbing.
So 4 hrs total gameplay + ~150g (in banked mats and gold) gets me a huge upgrade. Feels like a bargain to me, plus I've already transmuted enough diamonds from banked mats to turn a small profit right away.
I realize the JC monarch crab trinket is by far better for tanking, but I would've nearly busted all my gold and banked materials to get there. I figure if I'm going to spend that much, I might as well hold out a bit for a later attempt on a Greatness card. Hence, the alch trinket is a cheap, quick fix ahead of a Gossamer drop (when it happens) and the Greatness card when I have the bank for it.

Worthless even for raid/heroic bosses?
The truth is that generally for raiding, you regen enough simply from critting that you almost never have to worry about it, my current build includes no regen talents between Moonglow and Imp Moonkin you should be fine. Generally we suffer over long periods in heroics but that doesn't mean anything in the long run, bosses we are still fine.
Whoa, so I went for it and made full cat my offspec instead of Resto. Wow. Went from about 4200 on 25 man XT to 6700ish or so, wearing shitty heroic and 10 man naxx gear. I would love to see a geared out cat in our guild after going from #4 or #5 on DPS as 4200 to #1, slightly ahead of our top rogue.
I was confused for a second but then I read XT, which means that's a super highly inflated number. Berserk + Heart + Bloodlust + someone else putting up Trauma/Mangle = Feral Cardiac Arrest. I doubt you'd get anywhere close to beating your top rogue anywhere else with 10m and heroic gear (but to be fair, ferals don't scale that well so we are pretty powerful when undergeared to make us able to compete on the geared level).

and the monarch crab figurine is better than the indestructible alchemist's stone for straight tanking, if you happen to be a JC

I believe that when I was last playing (shortly after 3.1) there was still a huge boost in DPS to using shred because of all the bonuses it got.
Has it changed that much? The only advantage to Manglespam is better CP generation.

A moment of silence for this absolutely awesome spec and the sheer rage it caused so so many people.
