Also, "Metroid" was often called "Meteoroid."

And of course Link was called "Zelda," for some reason, because obviously the player's character has to be the name from the game's title.

Also, how do you pronounce Mortal Kombat boss's name:

    Shang Tsung:

    Shang Tee-sung?
    Shang Sung?
    Shang Soong?
    Shang Chung?

It's not Nintendo Wii, just Wii. Nintendo is very specific about this.

Or is your objection to the word "the"? Like I should be saying "I enjoy playing Wii" instead of "I enjoy playing the Wii"?

I used to say Le-vee-a-than, for Leviathan when playing FF games.

    Balrog used to be barrellog.

    Shang Tsung was Shang toosung.

But this was when I was young and sometimes had trouble pronouncing things or reading in general. I'm now much better and pronounce it correctly when I know how.

No it is Shang Sung. The T is silent. If anything, you only put a slight z intonation on the s.

This was talked about in the FF thread not that long ago.

In the demo for X, Lulu calls him Tee-dus. His name is never spoken in X for some stupid reason. In KH1 its also Tee-dus, but in KH2, they changed it to Tidus. I think Dissidia says Tidus as well.

Its basically the new Aeris Aerith, only without the giant fanbase bitching. In other words, square is changing how they want it pronounce, and its their property to do so, so oh well.

    and Ico = Ee-co.

Yep. Pretty much any Japanese game that has "i" in it is pronounced "ee".

Ico, Tidus, Tifa, Kimahri, and Rikku. I tried to get more that weren't FF characters, but I couldn't think of any other than Ico.

But it also depends on the structure of the word as well. It's not going to be Feenal Fantasy. So, it's really hard to tell which one it is.

    Edit:

    Thought of Yoshi! :)

I don't know why this is, but my assumption is just because it's the way they speak. If you look at all their names the "i" are pronounced "ee"

    Kojima, Morita, Masashi, Toriyama, etc...
