New Zealand equivalent to Amazon

I was going to buy my sister, who is in New Zealand, a birthday gift through amazon.co.nz. However, it turns out not to exist. What websites would any New Zealanders recommend I use instead.

We don't have an Amazon equivalent, really.

What sort of gift are you looking at buying? Might be able to suggest a specific store which has an online presence that you can order through.

When I lived in NZ, I bought stuff from Amazon.com... after shipping it was still usually cheaper.

I buy from Amazon.com. As Lewisham said, the shipping is a little dearer, but that's about it.

It also depends what you're after.

You can try www.realgroovy.co.nz or www.fishpond.co.nz or www.mightyape.co.nz or www.trademe.co.nz (which is more "Ebay-ish" but has many online "stores"). I would also recommend searching for "xyz buy" using google.co.nz, and limiting your search to NZ..

Again, it would *really* depend on what she's after and the exchange rate. NZ tends to be expensive in NZD, and even with shipping it's often cheaper to buy from Amazon.

As an occasional online shopper, I can help more if we have more info ;)

I can recommend www.mightyape.co.nz if you're buying DVDs, games or books. They ship free (and fast) for orders over $50. The prices are generally good, especially when compared to brick-and-mortar equivalents. I've bought troves of stuff from them and never had an issue.
